WILMETTE, Ill. - The Purdue women's golf team finished first day of the Windy City Collegiate Classic, hosted by Northwestern at Westmoreland Country Club, in eighth place, shooting 20-over par (294-302=596). Sophomore August Kim posted the Boilermakers' top individual score of the day, finishing three-over par at 72-75=147, and tied for 16th place in the standings.

The Boilermakers played solid golf as a team in the opening round, finishing just six-over par at 294, their second-best round of the season. Kim and freshman Marta Martin both carded rounds of even-par, both making a pair of birdies, while junior Anna Appert Lund made a team-high four birdies en route to a round of one-over, 73. Senior Aurora Kan turned in the final team score of the round, finishing five-over par, 77. The Boilermakers made 11 birdies on the round, finishing tied for the lead with seventh-ranked USC and No. 45 Miami.

The second round of the day would prove a bit tougher for the Old Gold and Black as they shot 14-over par, 302, and dropped down to eighth place in the team standings. Kim, Appert Lund and Kan posted matching rounds of three-over, 75, while senior Johanna Tillström accounted for the final team score at five-over 77. Appert Lund joined Kim in the top-20 of the individual standings, sitting tied for 18th place at the end of the day.

USC holds a six-shot lead on the field, finishing five-over par (294-287=581), followed by fifth-ranked Northwestern (+11, 300-287=587) and 10th-ranked Oklahoma State (+13, 300-289=589). Tulane's Emily Penttila owns the individual lead at seven-under par, and shot a women's course record at Westmoreland with a six-under, 66 in the second round.
