WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Three members of the Purdue men's golf team were named to the PING All-Midwest Regional Team, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced today.
Senior Adam Schenk, junior Enzo Perez and freshman Austin Eoff were all named to the 25-member All-Midwest Regional Team. The three honorees were tied with Iowa for the second most in the region behind NCAA Central Regional champion Illinois' four selections.
Schenk, a two-time recipient after earning the award as a freshman in 2011, was named a second-team All-Big Ten selection after averaging a team-best 72.36 strokes per round, the second-lowest average for any Purdue player since the 1997 season. He owns top-25 finishes in nine of his 12 tournaments this year, including six top-10 placings. He placed 10th at last weekend's NCAA Central Regional after placing ninth as a junior and has recorded seven rounds in the 60s this year after having five in his first three years combined.
Perez, a Biarritz, France, native, earns his first career honor after averaging 74.17 strokes per round this year. Perez has had a very consistent year for head coach Rob Bradley, placing in the top-25 seven times this season and being Purdue's top finisher at the Big Ten Championship with a T-12 finish. Perez enters the NCAA Championship having shot 76 or better in 16 of his last 19 rounds and finished in the top-25 in six of his last seven events.
Eoff, a freshman from Little Rock, Arkansas, who earned second-team All-Big Ten accolades earlier this year, is second on the team in scoring average at 73.11 strokes. Eoff was one of two freshmen to be named All-Big Ten (Minnesota's Jose Mendez) and owns three top-10 and six top-25 showings on the year. His 73.11 stroke average is the lowest scoring average for a Purdue freshman in school history and has five rounds in the 60s this year.
Schenk and Eoff, along with freshman Philippe Schweizer, have also qualified for U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying on June 2, attempting to represent Purdue at U.S. Open at Pinehurst (N.C.) in mid-June.
All three will compete in this weekend's NCAA Championship at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas, beginning Friday.
