WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Play was suspended at approximately 7:30 p.m. ET Friday at the 2011 Big Ten Women's Golf Championships in Glencoe, Ill., due to severe thunderstorms, forcing the suspension of the second round.

Play will resume on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the 16 groups of twosomes that have yet to finish. Tee times for the third round will start at 12:30 p.m. with the pairings generated based on second-round results.

Four teams finished the second round before play was called, including the Boilermakers who shot a 599 (303-296, +23). Standings for the second round will not be finalized until all 11 conference schools complete the round, but at the time play was suspended Purdue was in third place, three strokes behind Wisconsin and Michigan State. After the opening round, the Boilermakers were tied with Wisconsin for first place with a team total of 303.

Senior Numa Gulyanamitta leads Purdue after recording a one-over par 145. The native of Thailand opened with a 74 and was tied along with teammate Laura Gonzalez-Escallon for fourth place after the first round. The Boilermakers have won the last three team and individual Big Ten Championships and have won five overall. Both LeBlanc and Gonzalez-Escallon have earned medalist honors at the Big Ten Championships. LeBlanc shared the title with Maria Hernandez in 2009 and last season Gonazalez-Escallon became just the second freshman in conference history to win the title.

The Big Ten Championships consists of four rounds of golf to be played April 22 to 24 at the Lake Shore Country Club, a 6,303-yard, par-72 venue. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com and daily recaps will be posted at purduesports.com.
