Oct. 10, 2010

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Purdue women's tennis team added five more wins to its tally on Sunday at the University of Central Florida Invitational.

The Old Gold and Black blanked host team Central Florida in doubles 3-0, making it the third team victory that the Boilermakers claimed during the three day tournament.

At No. 1 doubles Jennifer Rabot and Mara Schmidt breezed past Jenny Frisell and Courtney Griffith of UCF 8-2. Following suit in the second spot Anna Dushkina and Gisella Pere defeated Alezis Rodriguez and Genevieve Lorbergs 8-6. Continuing a hot streak was Imogen Golder and Bhavani Tirumurti, clinching their tournament undefeated streak over Josephine Haralson and Taylor Dubins 8-4.

Like her Boilermaker teammates, freshman Schmidt kept her win stripe alive by narrowly escaping Arkansas's Jade Frampton 7-6, 7-5 at No. 2 singles. Sophomore Golder also captured a win when Razorback Kate Lukomskaya defaulted at 6-4, 4-1.

Purdue holds a 4-3 dual-match all-time series record over Missouri while the Boilermakers have only ever faced Central Florida and Arkansas once.

Purdue next takes on the field at the June Stewart Invitational in Nashville, Tenn. on Oct. 29-31.
