Round Two Results // Round Three Tee Times
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The top-ranked Purdue Boilermakers climbed four spots in round two of the Fall Preview presented by Callaway, recording a 293 (+5). It is a seven-stroke improvement from the Boilermakers' opening round of 300 at the Traditions Golf Club in Bryan, Texas.
Purdue is tied with No. 7 Auburn for 10th with a two-round total of 593 (+17) and trail the leader, No. 4 Alabama (286-280=566) by 27 strokes. The Crimson Tide have blown away the 36-hole course record, previously held by Duke who recorded a 594 in 2006.
Alabama's Brooke Pancake and Vanderbilt's Marina Alex share the individual lead at six-under par. Pancake recorded a 73 on Tuesday after tying a course record with an opening-round 65. Alex carded a 71 in the second round for her two-round total of 138.
No. 17 LSU is in second place, No. 3 Southern California is third, No. 13 Georgia - who led after round one by firing an 11-under par 277 - is tied with No. 10 Vanderbilt for fourth place.
Four of Purdue's five golfers improved their scores by two strokes or more and for the second day in a row, Purdue senior Thea Hoffmeister recorded the team's low round. The Berlin, Germany, native fired an even-par 72 on Tuesday and is tied for 27th with a score of 146 (+2). Hoffmeister opened with a double-bogey on hole No. 10 and bogeyed No. 13. She recovered with a birdie on No. 14 and went on to birdie No. 18 and No. 6 to finish even par.
Numa Gulyanamitta carded a one-over par 73, a two-stroke improvement from the opening round. She is tied for 33rd with a 148 (+4) after 36 holes. Gulyanamitta recorded three bogeys in her first 10 holes but made birdies on No. 6 and No. 7 to get back to one-over for the day.
Sophomore Laura Gonzalez-Escallon shot a 73 in the second round and is tied for 41st, just one stroke behind Gulyanamitta with a 149 (+5). Gonzalez-Escallon, the 2010 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, recorded three birdies and four bogeys on Tuesday.
Freshman Alex Stewart fired a 75 for the second-consecutive round and is tied for 48th place with a two-round score of 150 (+6).
Senior Maude-Aimee LeBlanc made the biggest strides in the second round, improving her score by seven strokes with a 75. She moved up to a tie for 77th with a 157. LeBlanc, who averaged a conference-best 73.0 strokes per round last season, opened with an 82 on Monday. The Sherbrooke, Quebec, native is Purdue's highest rated individual in the preseason, ranked No. 4 by Golfweek.
Play resumes at 8:30 a.m. ET Wednesday for the third and final round of the Fall Preview hosted by Texas A&M. Purdue tees off from hole No. 10 beginning at 8:39 a.m. and will be paired with Auburn and Wake Forest. Full results from round two and round three live scoring are available at golfstat.com.
