FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Purdue men's and women's track and field teams opened competition at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday, engaging in a pair of events at the University of Arkansas' Randal Tyson Track Center. Juniors Shane Crawford and Stacey Wannemacher put forth solid efforts, but came up short of the finals in the respective fields.
Wannemacher came up just short of the finals in the women's weight throw this afternoon, hurling 19.08 meters (62-07.25) to finish 11th overall in the event. She returns tomorrow to compete in the women's shot put, and attempt to become the first indoor All-American in the event in school history.
Crawford came in 11th in the men's 60-meter dash, crossing the line in 6.69 seconds. Crawford was sixth in his heat, finishing just two places shy of the first All-America award in the event in Purdue's history.
Wannemacher opens the Boilermakers' slate of competition tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. (ET), followed closely by freshman Geoff Davis in the men's high jump at 5:45 p.m., and senior Brianna Neumann in the women's pole vault at 6 p.m.
