WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - After holding Minnesota to 43 points on Dec. 28, the Boilermakers suffer a 74-47 loss in Minneapolis on Thursday.
The story of the night was Minnesota's defensive pressure. Purdue committed 17 turnovers in the first half and finished with a season-high 32 turnovers for the game. The Boilermakers did not have a player reach double-figure scoring and freshman KK Houser and sophomore Alex Guyton led Purdue with eight points each.
Minnesota had three players reach double-digits. Kiara Buford led all scorers with 18 points, Ashley Ellis-Milan recorded 17 and China Antoine hit 7 of 11 shots, including 2 of 4 three-pointers to tally 16 points.
Purdue hit 50 percent of its shots in the second half, connecting on 12 of 24 for the period, but gave up 57.1 percent (16 of 28) field goal percentage to the Golden Gophers. After trailing by nine at the half, the Boilermakers were outscored 14-4 to start the second stanza and Minnesota never looked back.
The Boilermakers return to action at home on Sunday when they take on Iowa at noon in Mackey Arena.
