WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Boilermaker softball team managed just one hit in a 3-0 loss to Iowa on Saturday. Purdue will get another crack at the Hawkeyes in a 2 p.m. contest on Sunday. Tickets for the event are just $1 and an Easter egg hunt will follow the game.

Iowa scored its three runs on five hits and one Purdue miscue, while the Boilermakers reached base on one hit and one Hawkeye error. Senior Christina Trauger supplied the lone hit for Purdue.

Brittany Weil (16-7) struck out 13 in the complete game victory for Iowa, while sophomore Suzie Rzegocki (16-8) was saddled with the loss despite striking out three in five innings of work.

The Hawkeyes tallied the first hit of the game with second inning single, but could not score.

Colleen McGlaughlin put Iowa on the board with a leadoff home run in the fourth.

Iowa tacked on two more runs on three hits in the fifth. Lindsey Digmann led off with a bunt single, stole second and advanced to third on a sacrifice. The Boilermakers caught her in a rundown between third and home on a fielder's choice the following play to prevent a run. A Liz Watkins single to right field plated a run. A McGlaughlin double down the left field line made it 3-0.

The Boilermakers went down in order in each of the first four innings, but busted the drought as freshman Molly Garst reached on a dropped third strike with two outs in the fifth. Garst stole second, but was stranded by a strikeout.

Senior Dana Alcocer took over in the circle to start the sixth, one of a host of defensive changes for Purdue. A hit batsman gave the Hawkeyes a base runner, then a sacrifice and an illegal pitch bumped her to third. Alcocer bounced back with a strikeout and a pop up, which stranded the runner.

Senior Christina Trauger broke the no-hitter with a lead off single in the botttom of the inning. She was caught stealing with two outs to end the scoring threat.

Both teams went down in order in the seventh to cap the game.

Purdue (20-13, 5-4 Big Ten) face off with the Hawkeyes (32-9, 4-3 Big Ten) again at 2 p.m. Sunday.
