COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Purdue women's swimming and diving team wrapped up competition at the Art Adamson Invitational on Sunday, bringing home a sixth place finish for their efforts. They totaled 204 points over three days at Texas A&M.

Elyse Dudar got things started off with a very solid showing in the 1650 free. Her time of 17:14.45 was good for a 14th place finish. Amy Gutwein finished 17th in the event, clocking in at 17:22.46.

Kristen Gilson continued the trend in the 200 back, finishing ninth after posting a 1:59.47.

Next up was the 100 free, where Ariel Martin led the Boilermakers with a time of 50.91. She finished 15th.

Purdue had four swimmers represented in the 200 breast. Sarah Dunleavy (2:25.99), Christina Jacobs (2:28.77), Susie Fawcett (2:28.99) and Jessica Davis (2:29.01) finished 18th through 21st, respectively.

Lauren Roth was the top Boilermaker finisher in the 200 fly. Her time of 2:03.49 was good for a 20th place finish.

The 400 free relay team of Leah Henninger, Martin, Katie Beck and Roth wrapped up the event with a ninth place showing. They clocked in at 3:26.22.

The women also competed in the platform diving event for the first time this season. Kara Cook finished second with a score of 254.60. Casey Matthews picked up fourth at 242.45.

"Kristen's 200 back was one of our best swims of the entire meet," head coach John Klinge said. "Ariel continued her strong performance, as well. We also finished with a very good set of 400 free relays.

"We had a very good evening. It was probably our best session of the weekend."

The Purdue women next compete at the Ohio State Diving Invitational from Dec. 5-7. The swimmers do not hit the water again until Jan. 10 at Florida Atlantic. Check purduesports.com for more updates.
