ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Purdue women's and men's cross country teams placed ninth and tenth at the 2008 Big Ten Championships on Sunday at the University of Michigan. Running on the University of Michigan golf course, the Purdue women amassed 250 points and an average time of 22:32.9, while the men scored 296 points with an average mark of 26:25.6.

The University of Minnesota captured the women's team title, scoring all five of their point scorers inside the top 18 runners, while Michigan State senior Nicole Bush took home the individual championship with a time of 20:15.8. The Wisconsin men's team won its 10th straight Big Ten Championship, scoring just 40 team points, and Minnesota's Hassan Mead won the individual crown with a time of 24:26.4.

Junior Kristin Phillips paced the Purdue women with her season-best 6K time, finishing 26th overall in 21:42.1. Classmate Katie Morrical was 40th in 22:04.0, and sophomore Kristina Krasich came home 65th in 22:48.4. Rookie Stephanie Bonk and junior Danielle Eagan capped off the Boilermakers' scoring with respective times of 23:00.0 and 23:09.7. Freshman Katie Conrad and senior Lynn Marsh followed closely in 23:17.3 and 23:27.8.

On the men's side, junior Caden Shields led the way, completing the course with a time of 25:38.2. Rookie Cale Allen was the next across the line, finishing in 25:55.4, while sophomores Robert Shiflett and Chase Kaufman notched times of 26:49.4 and 26:49.8. Freshman Ladd Mercer closed out the Purdue scoring with a time of 26:55.2.

The Boilermakers return home for their next meet, hosting the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships on Saturday, Nov. 15.
