Men's Golf Leads Rain-Shortened Badger Invitational

MADISON, Wis. - The Purdue men's golf team leads the Badger Invitational after 27 holes and a lot of rain over the past two days.

The Boilermakers fired a first-round 290 and have totaled a 142 through the first nine holes of the second round.

Play was rained out on Friday and Saturday's action was cut short due to a downpour. The tournament has been shortened to 36 holes, with the final nine being played Sunday morning at 9 a.m.

The event is being hosted by the University of Wisconsin and held at the University Ridge Golf Course. Nine women's and men's teams are playing 36 holes over three days on the par-72 course. The women's yardage is 6,025, while the men's measures 6,888.

Purdue was led by senior Shiv Kapur who fired a first-round 69 to lead the tournament after the first 18 holes. He has a 37 through the front nine in the second round.

Freshman Pariya Junhasavasdikul is tied for seventh overall after a 73 in the first round. He posted a 34 through nine on Saturday.

Junior Dustin Cone and freshman Peter Richardson are tied for 12th after first-round 74s. Cone has a 35 through the second-round nine and Richardson posted a 36.

Freshman Adam Vandoski tied for 40th after 18 holes and carded a 31 on the front nine of the second round.

The Boilermakers begin the final nine holes on Sunday morning at 9 a.m. Stats will be provided on golfstat.com.
