WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's track and field team finished fourth at the Big Ten Championships hosted by Penn State. The Boilermakers earned 82.50 points to finish behind winner Michigan, who tallied 116 points. Intrastate rival Indiana got second place with 114.50 points, while Illinois finished third with 106.
Junior Kim Jordan won the 800m run with a season-best and NCAA provisional time of 2:08.28. Junior Kelly Van Abeele placed seventh with a time of 2:12.65 to earn points for Purdue.
Both senior Anne Stechshulte and rookie Lindsay Zinn garnered points for the Old Gold and Black in the 5,000m run. Stechshulte finished third in 16:46.22, while Zinn was fifth in 16:49.47.
All-American Serene Ross placed second in the weight throw with a career-best toss of 19.45m/63-8.12. Junior Cynthia Bortz placed eighth with a mark of 18.15m/59-5.47.
Sophomore Kristen Truscott placed fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.74m/5-7.86. Classmate Angela Anoliefoh's leap of 1.70m/5-5.70 earned a seventh-place finish. Senior Janelle Johnson placed sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.99m/39-3.37.
The 4x400m relay team finished second in 3:50.18.
