Pam Stackhouse

TitleWomen's Basketball Assistant Coach
Pam Stackhouse

Pam Stackhouse is in her seventh season at Purdue. She coaches the guards; coordinates recruiting of high school freshmen and sophomores, scheduling and team travel; and is the liaison with the academic services staff.

Stackhouse has been an integral part of Purdue's success during her tenure. In 1996-97 as an assistant under head coach Nell Fortner, Stackhouse was a part of the Boilermakers? regular season Big Ten championship team. That first title was the beginning of what has become a long string of success, followed by three more regular season conference championships (1999, 2001 and 2002), three Big Ten Tournament crowns (1998, 1999 and 2000), an NCAA championship (1999) and an NCAA runner-up finish (2001).

Stackhouse came to Purdue after coaching at Louisiana Tech during the 1995-96 season. Her duties with the Lady Techsters, who were 31-2, won the Sun Belt Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight, included recruiting and scouting, as well as on-the-floor coaching and a variety of administrative responsibilities. Louisiana Tech was ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press poll for 15 of 18 weeks.

"I have known Stack for a long time, and I am so thankful to have her on my staff," head coach Kristy Curry says. "She brings a wealth of knowledge and a commitment to excellence to the program. She relates so well to our players on and off the court and has a tremendous amount of loyalty to Purdue. Certainly Purdue's recent success is due, in large part, to Stack's efforts."

Before joining the collegiate coaching ranks, Stackhouse worked for four years in Louisiana Tech's academic advising center. She was part of the reason that Louisiana Tech athletes became one of the Sun Belt leaders in graduation rates. Stackhouse also worked the Lady Techsters? basketball camps.

Stackhouse's other coaching experience includes four years at Mermentau Junior High School in Louisiana from 1981 to 1985.

"Purdue is an exciting place to be because it has the best of everything; great academics and great athletics," Stackhouse says. "It provides student-athletes the opportunity to have a well-rounded collegiate experience. Also, playing in the Big Ten Conference is exciting because, like Purdue itself, it is second to none. I consider myself very lucky to be in this position and hope to be a part of Purdue's continuing success."

Stackhouse is a 1991 graduate of Louisiana Tech with a bachelor?s degree in health and physical education. She received her master's in counseling from Louisiana Tech in 1993. Stackhouse is a native of Jennings, La. Her interests include playing golf, reading, music, running, outdoor activities and spending time with her Yorkshire terrier, Zach.
