Lacee' Carmon-Johnson, Ph.D.
Dr. Lacee’ Camron-Johnson is the Director of Professional Development for Purdue Athletics since 2019. She oversees and manages the Boilermakers’ strategic plan to provide professional growth to student-athletes, coaches and staff members. In addition to her duties with professional development, Carmon-Johnson also serves as the Associate Director for Academic Services, a position she has held since 2018.
 
With Student-Athlete Development, Carmon-Johnson mentors and guides Boilermakers in their search for graduate school, internships and job search, while preparing them for a career after sports. She manages the revamped student-athlete development program Boiler Pro+, the Summer Career Readiness Training Camp, the BoilerSWAG program for football and serves as an advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She has also established a staff and coaches’ development program that provides professional development for coaches and staff members in their careers.
 
Carmon-Johnson handles the day-to-day academic support for football student-athletes with study hall organization, tutor scheduling, bookstore liaison and intradepartmental communication. Under her guidance, the program has posted semester and cumulative records, including more than 50% of student-athletes above 3.0 GPA.
 
Carmon-Johnson joined Purdue after 3 1/2 years at Western Kentucky as the Assistant Director for the Student-Athlete Success Center. She maintained academic records and progress toward degrees for WKU football, women’s basketball men’s and women’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s tennis and softball.
 
She made the jump into the administrative side of athletics following two seasons as an Assistant Coach for Marshall Track and Field, focusing on springs, hurdles and jumps. The Thundering Herd notched  pair of All-Americans, 10 All-CUSA honorees, eight national qualifiers and 26 school records.
 
Prior to her time in Huntington, W.Va., Carmon-Johnson produced a trio of conference champions, 10 all-conference athletes and five national qualifiers as an Assistant Coach for Stephen F. Austin Track and Field from 2009-11. Her first foray into coach came over one season as an Assistant Coach at Smith College for the 2009 season.
 
Carmon-Johnson was a four-year letter winner at Rice from 2004-08. A consistent scorer for the Owls, she was a regional qualifier and was a member of four Conference USA Championship teams.
 
In addition to her duties at Purdue, Carmon-Johnson has served as an Adjunct Professor at Western Kentucky since 2018, teaching graduate-level courses for Recreation and Sport Administration. She started course instruction at WKU in 2013. She also served in instructor and professor roles at Marshall, Angelina College and Smith College.
 
She has made numerous presentations and at national and regional conferences and written several manuscripts to promote leadership, career readiness and professional development.
 
Carmon-Johnson serves in various groups and committees throughout the NCAA, Big Ten and Purdue University, including the Big Ten Student Development Administrators Circle, Women Leaders in College Sports and National Association of Academic Advisors and Student-Athlete Development Professionals.
 
Carmon-Johnson earned a Ph.D. in education with a specialization in athletic administration from Northcentral in 2016. She received an M.Ed. in kinesiology from Stephen F. Austin in 2010. She was a double-major in kinesiology and psychology in 2008 from Rice.

The Beaumont, Texas, native lives in West Lafayette and her two sons - Ace and Duke.
