Chris Karges-Iandolo is in her 14th season as an assistant coach for the Boilermakers. A former collegiate standout, Karges-Iandolo has infused the Purdue program with a passion for competition and success.
Karges-Iandolo has made a dramatic impact while at Purdue, using her playing experience to connect with the Boilermaker student-athletes. She has been instrumental in helping Purdue improve its status from a Big Ten Conference also-ran to title contender.
Karges-Iandolo' work in leading Purdue to one of its finest seasons in 1998 earned her the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Assistant Coach of the Year Award for the Midwest Region. Karges-Iandolo played an integral part in helping the Boilermakers to a 14-10 record (8-2 Big Ten), a second-place finish in the conference regular-season standings, a No. 2 seed in the Big Ten Championships and an NCAA Championships invitation.
A tireless worker, Karges-Iandolo has helped to develop a number of successful players during her time in West Lafayette. Karges-Iandolo's coaching skills no doubt made a lasting impact on former Purdue All-Big Ten player Jennifer Embry, who qualified with doubles partner Amanda Augustus to compete in the Championships at Wimbledon in July 2001.
Karges-Iandolo works side-by-side with head coach and husband Mat Iandolo. Together the couple has helped introduce the Purdue women[apos]s tennis program to the national scene.
Prior to her arrival in West Lafayette, Karges-Iandolo served as an assistant coach at Northwestern from 1990 to 1992. In her three years with the Wildcats, she helped guide them to a second-place and two third-place finishes in the Big Ten.
Karges-Iandolo graduated from Kentucky in 1989 with a bachelor[apos]s degree in communications. She won two Southeastern Conference singles championships and one doubles title, and was a three-time all-conference selection and a four-time NCAA participant for the Wildcats. Additionally, she was honored with the SEC Sportsmanship and ITA Southeast Region Senior Player of the Year awards.
From 1987 to 1990, Karges-Iandolo played on the USTA professional tennis tour.
