Candace Britten serves Purdue Athletics in the role of assistant director - student services and development. She joined the department in August 2017 as a tutor and mentor coordinator.
Britten is responsible for supervising, hiring, training and evaluating, Purdue Athletics academic support personnel. She schedules student-athletes for tutoring and mentoring needs so they can maximize their full potential off of their respective playing fields. Britten is responsible for the prevention, detection, and breaches of Purdue University, Big Ten Conference, and NCAA regulations of academic misconduct.
Britten works with teams on goal setting, team chemistry, attitude, personal accountability and administers the DISC assessment for student-athletes. She’s also responsible for working directly with EDPS (transition course) Director to align programming for student-athlete development. Britten is the secondary contact for Emerging Leaders and assists with SAAC initiatives. She also assists the Athletics Diversity and Inclusion Designee with all Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives for Student-Athletes and department staff and works closely with Creative and Strategic Communication teams to establish a yearly schedule for DEI content and stories.
Prior to her appointment as Tutor and Mentor Coordinator, Britten coached basketball for the Tippecanoe County School Corporation and worked for Franciscan Alliance as a Rehab Tech from 2012 to 2017. Britten started her intercollegiate career as a Purdue Women’s Basketball Mentor and held that role for nearly a decade dating back to 2008.
Britten earned her bachelor’s degree in Health and Fitness in 2011 from Purdue University and her master’s degree in sport management and administration in 2015, from Southern New Hampshire University.
Britten is the daughter of Rodney and Jeanette Britten. She has one brother, Rodney, and three sisters, Leah, Joslyn and Tiffany.
