WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Eight Purdue swimmers have been selected to compete for country at the FISU America Games, a western hemisphere edition of the World University Games set to be held in Peru in July.
The Boilermakers chosen to represent the UniUSA Team are Keira Kask, Kate Mouser, Lara Phipps and Adele Sands from the women’s roster as well as Maxwell Blume, Biko Hooper-Haviland, Evan Mackesy and Blake Rowe from the men’s team.
UniUSA is the U.S. delegation for the World University Games; it announced the 44 swimmers chosen to compete at the America Games this week. Purdue’s eight total swimmers were the most of any university. The Boilermakers were the only school to have multiple selections from both genders. North Carolina (4 men, 1 woman) was second with five picks.
The swimming events at the FISU America Games are set for the weekend of July 24-26 at the Videna Aquatic Center in the Peru capital of Lima. FISU is the Federation Internationale du Sport Universitaire (International University Sports Federation), the organizing body of the biennial World University Games. FISU introduced the America Games in 2018. Similar to the quadrennial Pan American games, it features athletes from North, Central and South America.
Mackesy is one of three men on the team that also qualified for the 2026 NCAA Championships. Hooper-Haviland (200 fly), Mackesy (400 IM), Rowe (200 back) and Phipps (400 free relay) all set team records this season.
Of Purdue’s eight swimmers going to Peru this summer, Blume, Kask, Mackesy, Mouser, Rowe and Sands also raced long course for the Boilermakers at USA Swimming’s 2025 TYR Summer Championships in Irvine, California. Selected Purdue swimmers opt to train and complete long course every summer.
The Boilermakers traditionally have representation in the aquatic events at the World University Games, most recently by five student-athletes at the 2025 WUG in Germany. The Purdue Divers won a pair of medals in synchronized events. Divers Steele Johnson and Ben Bramley represented USA Diving and the Boilermakers at the 2019 Pan Am Games in Peru. The country is also set to host the Pan Am Games again in July 2027.
