Abby Marcukaitis once again made a run at the team record in the 100 backstroke. Her lifetime best mark of 52.73 Saturday was just .01 hundredth shy of Jackie Smailis’ program record that has stood since the 2019 Big Ten Championships. Marcukaitis already owns the team record in the 200 back and she won that event over the second half of the meet Saturday for her ninth individual event victory of the season.

Biko Hooper-Haviland eclipsed his own Purdue freshman record while winning the 200 butterfly (1:43.93). It’s the third time he’s eclipsed the freshman benchmark this season, lowering it by 2.16 seconds so far over the course of the season. Saturday, Hooper-Haviland joined Sam Wilcher (1:43.82) as the only Boilermaker to go sub 1:44.00 in the event. Wilcher has held the team record in the 200 fly since 2009 and went sub 1:44 for the first time as a senior in 2010.

Daryn Wright (platform diving) and Campbell Scofield (200 fly) were victorious in their premier events vs. the Hoosiers for the second year in a row. Both won with team season bests. Wright was victorious in her season debut on the tower, posting her team-leading 11th event victory of the season. Scofield has won the 200 fly five times this season.

Also in the dive well, Tyler Wills and Kaden Springfield went 1-2 on the tower as the Purdue men had four of the top five finishers. Holden Higbie and Nathaniel Grannis also teamed up for a 1-2 finish on 1-meter. Wills won on the tower with a team season-best list score of 429.38 that was only 1.12 points shy of his lifetime best.

Alex Hotta won the 100 fly by 1.4 seconds with a lifetime best of 45.81, improving on his NCAA Championships qualifying time and second-fastest mark in team history. He joined Brady Samuels as the only Boilermakers to go sub 46 seconds in the event.

Reagan Mattice (1000) and Caitlin Hurley (500) teamed up for the distance freestyle sweep. Mattice posted her eighth event victory of the season and Hurley registered her sixth. Mattice’s lifetime best of 9:48.00 improved on her fourth-fastest time in team history.

Freshmen Jonny Hines (1000 free) and Annabelle Swiney (200 IM) posted lifetime bests in their first taste of an Indiana-Purdue dual. Hines moved into seventh place in team history in the 1000.

The Boilermakers close out their dual meet schedules next weekend at the two-day Big Ten Triple Duals vs. Minnesota and Northwestern. The Wildcats will host the swimming events in Evanston and the Boilermakers will host the diving events in West Lafayette. Friday’s events are set for 3 p.m. ET (diving) and 6 p.m. ET (swimming). Action concludes Saturday.
