WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Fresh off its first Big Ten series victory of the year, Purdue hosts Eastern Illinois in a midweek non-conference match up on Thursday, Apr. 10. After the weekend, the Boilermakers improved to 20-17 on the year, while the Panthers are close behind at 19-16.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Eastern Illinois is 19-16 on the year, with a .786 winning percentage. The Panthers currently sit atop the Ohio Valley Conference with 11 wins and just three losses. The Panthers recently took on new Big Ten member, Washington, in a non-conference mid-week game, falling 3-2 in eight innings. Coming into the match up with the Boilers, EIU most recently swept Tennessee Tech for its fourth conference series win of the year.

The Boilers and the Panthers have played one another in seven games in their histories, with the first match up dating back to 1994, in the inaugural season of play for Purdue. In the most recent game, a year ago, Purdue took down EIU 9-5 in West Lafayette. The Boilers have played the Panthers in three four different locations including the home of the Panthers in Charleston, Ill, as well as Carbondale, Ill., Sacramento, Calif, and West Lafayette, Ind. The Boilers have won the last four straight since 2001 and are looking to keep the streak alive.
