Boilers Set for NCAA Great Lakes Regional

Purdue Cross Country continues postseason competition on Friday, Nov. 14 at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Evansville, Ind.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Cross Country continues postseason competition on Friday, Nov. 14 at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Evansville, Ind.  

Championship Notes
• The women’s 6k begins at 11 a.m. ET followed by the men’s 10k at noon ET.
• The top two teams in each regional will secure an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. The first four regional individual finishers from non-automatic qualifying or at-large teams also secure a bid to the NCAA Championships.
• The top 25 finishers in each race will receive NCAA Great Lakes All-Region recognition.


Men’s Notes
• The men’s program ranks sixth out of 15 programs in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in USTFCCCA’s most recent poll.
Douglas Buckeridge is coming off a seventh-place finish at the Big Ten Championships, the highest by a Boilermaker since Curt Eckstein’s fifth-place finish in 2020-21. He will look to qualify for the NCAA Championships for a second consecutive season after he was the NCAA Great Lakes Regional runner-up last season.
Nathan Walker earned All-Big Ten Second Team for the second time in his career after an 18th-place finish at the championship meet. He will aim for qll-region status this season after falling just short in 27th last season. 
Jason Polydoris (41st) and Kiefer Bell (46th) turned in a pair of top 50 finishes at the Big Ten Championships. They each finished 38th and 39th, respectively, at least year’s regional meet.
Nerius White is a consistent fixture in Purdue’s top five every meet, including his 64th-place finish at Big Tens. He took 78th in his first regional race last season.

Women’s Notes
Elise Peckinpaugh is the only Boilermaker set to race on Friday that has experience at a regional meet after she competed in 2023. She was Purdue’s third-highest finisher at Big Tens.
Julia Economou paced the Boilers at Big Tens with her 100th-place finish. She is a top three finisher for Purdue in all five of her appearances this season.
Sofia Munoz was Purdue’s second finisher in 115th and has placed in the Boilermakers’ top two in all four of their 6k races this season.
Lauren Pegher and Elizabeth Butler rounded out Purdue’s top five at Big Tens. Pegher has finished in Purdue’s top four every meet.
