WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men's tennis team (3-0) surged to a 7-0 victory vs. Cleveland State (0-3) to remain undefeated over the first two weeks of the season.
 
With the team's second shutout of the year, the program improved to its best start since 2017. In total, Purdue has allowed its opponent to score just one collective point over the first three matches.
 
The Boilermakers took the doubles point, with Purdue's No. 2 Daniel Labrador and Juan David Velasquez nearly blanking Cleveland State's Carl Gedlitschka and Nico Jamison, leading 5-0 before ultimately winning, 6-1. Court No. 1's Aleksa Krivokapic and Maj Premzl secured Purdue's team point, defeating Lincoln Battle and Devin Boyer, 6-4.
 
In singles, Premzl registered a bagel to open the match on Court 6 and went on to finish first behind 6-0, 6-3 scores. Meanwhile, on Court 5, Fathalla went to a tiebreaker to decide the first set, and won it 7-5 following a deuce before taking Set 2, 6-2. Velasquez clinched Court 3 on an ace, winning 6-2, 6-4. The match wrapped up with a battle between Henrik Villanger on Court 4, who came back from a tiebreaker loss in Set 1 to secure Purdue's shutout in super tiebreak fashion with 6-7 (4), 6-0, 10-5 results.
 
The Boilermakers will return to Schwartz Tennis Center next Saturday at 2 p.m. ET to take on Brown. Admission is free.
