Wollard Named Big Ten Co-Player of the Week

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Junior Kenna Wollard was selected Big Ten Co-Player of the Week, announced by the Conference office following Purdue volleyball’s wins vs. No. 15 Kansas and Bowling Green.

Wollard earned her first career award after leading Purdue volleyball to a pair of wins during the Stacey Clark Classic. Wollard totaled 70.5 points over the three matches, averaging 4.50 kills per set.

Her performance included 24 kills vs No. 23 Georgia Tech, the most by a Big Ten player in a four set match last week, while on a .321 hitting clip. Then, she followed it up just 24 hours later with a .318 hitting % on 19 kills and 15 digs vs. Bowling Green. To close the Stacey Clark Classic vs. No. 15 Kansas, Wollard led the team with another double-double of 15 digs and 20 kills.

On the national level, Wollard ranked No. 6 in total points and 10th in total attacks.

Wollard played every minute of every match, leading Purdue to its first ranked win of the season. As a result of Purdue’s wins, the Boilermakers moved up three spots in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll, announced Monday afternoon to No. 14. It is the 130th consecutive week.

She is joined by Michigan’s Allison Jacobs as Co-Player of the Week.

Tomorrow, Purdue is set to play Butler in the historic Hinkle Fieldhouse. The match, featuring two Shondell head coaches (Dave Shondell and son Kyle Shondell), is set for a 7 p.m. ET start on ESPN+. Tickets can be purchased HERE.
