WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men’s basketball team officially opened its 2025-26 season with the first of 30-allowed practices in advance of the season opener on Nov. 4, against Evansville.
The Boilermakers went through a practice in Cardinal Court that lasted nearly three hours. Following practice, the Boilermakers conducted media interviews, featuring a press conference from head coach Matt Painter.
“Right now, we are just trying to get guys to make improvements and get better at what they do,” Painter said. “From a collective standpoint, we’ve worked hard to be in a really good position. We need to be mature enough to do our job, play basketball and be connected one day at a time.
“That’s why we really like going into a tough exhibition game like Kentucky,” Painter added. “That’s gonna be real. We have to face them in that beehive and when we walk out of there after the game, that’s who we are on that day. Let’s learn from that game and get better.”
