WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. –  After starting the season 2-0 for the first time since 2019, the Boilers head back to Folk Field to host a pair of games including the Boiler Gold Rush match against DePaul this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Est.

The Boilers will host another home game on Sunday, August 24th against Butler with a 1:00 p.m. Est start time.

Purdue has outscored their opponents 9-2 over the last two matches. Purdue has had 6 different goal scorers in the nine goals, with three repeat scorers in Irene Campo, Chiara Singarella, and Megan Santa Cruz.

For her brace in the win over Ball State, Santa Cruz was named to the first Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS

DePaul sits an even 1-1 after the first two games of the season, defeating Chicago State 6-2, while falling one nil to Northern Illinois. Katelyn Jamie of DePaul was named Big East Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference on Monday, after netting her first-career hat trick. Jamie was the first Blue Demon to record a hat trick in four years.

After just one match, the Butler Bulldogs are currently undefeated with a two nil victory over Central Michigan. There were two different goal scorers for the Bulldogs in Talia Sommer and Leila Lister, while Norah Jacomen recorded an assist on both goals.

SERIES HISTORY

Purdue is undefeated against DePaul, taking all nine of the matches, with 7 of them coming on clean sheets. The teams last competed a season ago, where Purdue took the 3-0 victory over the Blue Demons in Chicago. The game saw goals from three former Boilers, but an assist from Singarella. If the Boilers take the victory on Thursday, it will mark a perfect 10-0 record against DePaul, dating back to 1998.

The Boilers have the series lead over the Butler Bulldogs, 6-2, but have lost their last two matches. The Boilers fell 0-3 a year ago, and 12 years earlier in 2012, fell 0-1. Purdue looks to get back on the right track and capitalize on the six victories, with the first dating back to 1998.

TOP DRAWER SOCCER TEAM OF THE WEEK

Santa Cruz was named to the first Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week for outstanding performance in the 5-2 victory over Ball State. Santa Cruz knotted back-to-back goals in the 61st and 62nd minutes, while earning her first-career header. She also picked up an assist, her first in a Purdue uniform.

Santa Cruz was joined by the likes of Anna Jenkins (Bellarmine, GK), Jennie Immethun (UCLA, D), Elise Evans (Stanford, D), Ella Raimondi (Dayton, D), Sofia Bush (Iowa, M), Ellie Garrison (Appalachian State, M), Shae O’Rourke (Tennessee, F), Naomi Clark (Oklahoma, F), and Mia Minestrella (Duke, F) on the Team of the Week list.
