Purdue Earns 6 CSC Academic All-District Selections

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Track & Field earned six 2024-25 Academic All-District Team selections, announced on Tuesday by College Sports Communicators.

On the men’s side, Douglas Buckeridge, Brett Otterbacher, Logan Sandlin and Nathan Walker were selected. Caroline Jordan and Payne Turney added selections on the women’s side.

Buckeridge leads Purdue’s selections as the only finalist for CSC Academic All-America. He was the NCAA Great Lakes Region Runner-Up in cross country and finished 43rd at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.

During the indoor season, Buckeridge entered Purdue’s top 10 list at No. 5 in the 3000m and No. 7 in the 5000m. He then followed with four top 10 times during the outdoor season headlined by a school record in the 10,000m (28:51.46). Buckeridge was an NCAA East First Round qualifier in the 3000m steeplechase and 10,000m.

Otterbacher concluded his career with Purdue records in the indoor and outdoor 4x400m relays. He was the Big Ten Champion and NCAA Championships qualifier in the 4x400m during the indoor season. He finished as part of four of the top eight outdoor 4x400m teams in Purdue history. He also holds four top 10 spots in Purdue’s indoor record book.

Sandlin adds academic honors to his 2024-25 resume after he was selected as a Big Ten Sportsmanship Award recipient during the indoor and outdoor seasons. His final collegiate campaign was headlined by a sixth-place finish at the Big Ten Indoor Championships in the heptathlon. He holds the No. 4 program spot in the heptathlon and No. 5 spot in the decathlon.

Walker competed during cross country and indoor during 2024-25 and entered Purdue’s top 10 list in the 5000m (fourth) and 3000m (ninth). He finished the cross country season 27th in the Great Lakes Region.

Turney’s successful final campaign was headlined by a school record in the outdoor 5000m (15:57.78) that was over 20 seconds faster than any Boilermaker. She entered Purdue’s top 10 list three times during outdoor and twice indoor.

She finished eighth at the Big Ten Indoor Championships in the 5000m to score a point and fell just short of placing in the outdoor 5000m (ninth) and 10,000m (11th). She was an NCAA East First Round qualifier in both events.

Jordan concluded her career No. 6 in Purdue’s record book in the 10,000m (34:49.86). She was 47th in the Greak Lakes Region during the cross country season.

CSC Academic All-America finalists will advance to a national ballot and First-, second- and third-team Academic All-American will be announced on July 15 (women) and July 16 (men).
