PHILADELPHIA — The NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee announced the seeding and brackets for the 2025 NCAA Championships during its selection show on Wednesday night. The starting seeds and first round opponents have been revealed for the five Boilermakers who earned a spot in the national tournament, hosted inside Wells Fargo Center from March 20-22.

Matt Ramos earned the No. 2 seed, the highest for a Boilermaker in the NCAA Championships since fellow 125-pounder Chris Fleeger held the top spot in 2003. Fleeger finished as the national runner-up that season.

Ramos returns to his fourth and final national tournament with a remarkable 26-1 record that includes 12 ranked victories. Currently third in Purdue history for career win percentage (.821), he finished second at the 2023 NCAA Championships as a four seed after famously pinning Iowa's three-time national champion Spencer Lee in the semifinal.

Sophomore Joey Blaze is fresh off a dominant showing at the 2025 Big Ten Championships where he went 5-1 with wins over the current No. 4, No. 6 and No. 15-ranked wrestlers, taking the bronze medal at 157 lbs.

He carries the No. 8 seed into his second NCAA tournament despite being ranked No. 3 by WIN Magazine, No. 4 in the coaches' rankings and No. 5 in RPI, InterMat, FloWrestling and The Open Mat.

Greyson Clark (No. 27 seed, 141 lbs) also punched his ticket to the Big Dance for a second time in as many seasons after a seventh-place finish at Big Tens. His conference tournament run was highlighted by two dominant upset wins over Indiana's then-No. 26 Henry Porter with a combined score of 23-2.

The sophomore 141-pounder joined Blaze last season as just the third true-freshman duo in Purdue history to qualify for the national tournament.

Additionally, redshirt sophomore Brody Baumann (No. 26 seed, 174 lbs) is also returning to the national stage after making his NCAA debut last season. At 174 pounds, he finished eighth in this year's Big Ten tournament with wins over Wisconsin's Lucas Condon and Indiana's then-No. 31 Derek Gilcher.

Heavyweight Hayden Filipovich (No. 33 seed, 285 lbs) was the final Boilermaker to secure an auto-bid to Philadelphia. The redshirt junior from Indianapolis had a breakout season with 12 wins, six via bonus points (three pins, three majors) and is the most battle-tested after a team-high 17 ranked matches.

Filipovich beat Nebraska's then-No. 23 Harley Andrews in a 16-3 major decision to clinch his spot during Day 2 of the Big Ten Championships. MATCHUPS PREVIEW The highest-seeded 125-pounder who already knows his opponent, Ramos will face Cal State Bakersfield's No. 31 Richard Castro-Sandoval. A win over him would pit Purdue's star against the victor of No. 18 Jacob Moran (Indiana) and No. 15 Maximo Renteria (Oregon State).

Ramos is 2-0 against Moran this season, winning the dual match inside Mackey Arena (11-2 major decision) and again Sunday at the Big Ten Championships, a 9-0 major.

Ramos previously beat Renteria back when the now-Beaver wrestled for Illinois in a 3-2 decision on Jan. 14, 2023. Earlier last season, Renteria notably beat Arizona State's Richard Figueroa, the eventual 2024 national champion at 125 lbs.

Blaze will square off with North Carolina's No. 25 Sonny Santiago (11-8), whom he has not wrestled before.

Should the 157-pound sophomore advance, he would draw the winner of No. 9 Tommy Askey (Minnesota) and No. 24 Dylan Evans (Pittsburgh). Blaze beat Askey last weekend in a 4-1 sudden-victory decision in the Big Ten third-place semifinals.

Baumann will scrap with No. 7 Danny Wask (Navy) in a rematch from the 2024 Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational on Dec. 6. Wask topped Baumann that day in a 9-5 decision before the Boilermaker went on to win six of his next seven matches.

Clark takes on Minnesota's No. 6 Vance VomBaur, whom he did not face in Purdue's dual at Minnesota in February. VomBaur enters with a 23-4 record after upsetting No. 1 Beau Bartlett (Penn State) for his first loss of the season in last weekend's Big Ten Championships.

Making his debut in the NCAA Championships, Filipovich will fight as the final heavyweight seed, No. 33. In what can be described as a "wrestle-in" match, he faces Appalachian State's No. 32 Stephan Monchery (19-9) for the right to battle No. 1 Gable Steveson in the first round. Steveson is Minnesota's two-time national champion, two-time Hodge Trophy winner and the only wrestler in Big Ten history to have won four conference titles as a heavyweight.
