WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Indoor Track & Field gears up for its final meets of the regular season February 14-15. Distance and pole vault will head to the Music City Challenge at Vanderbilt and the rest of the team will compete at the Tiger Paw Invitational at Clemson.
Men's Notes
• Cameron Miller remains fifth in the country with a 20.57 in the 200m. USC, Kentucky and Auburn, who have three of the other top five 200m runners, are scheduled to be at the Tiger Paw Invitational. Miller has won all six of his races this season with two wins each in the 200m, 300m and 4x400m relay.
• Nathan Walker ranks seventh in the Big Ten and fourth in program history with a 13:58.12 in the 5000m. He also ranks ninth in program history with an 8:07.79 in the 3000m. He prepares to run both events at Vanderbilt.
• Douglas Buckeridge is set to run the 5000m after he went 14:05.92 on Jan. 31. The time was the seventh fastest in program history and ninth in the Big Ten. He will look to become the fifth runner in program history to break 14 minutes in the event.
• Antoine Spencer returns to the track this weekend currently sixth in the Big Ten with a 20.97 in the 200m. The mark sits eighth in program history.
• Cale Ayers is coming off two consecutive victories in the weight throw. He has a personal-best 20.15m (66-01.50) that ranks 12th in the Big Ten.
Women's Notes
• Zoe Sullivan enters the final regular season weekend ninth in the country at 8.08 in the 60m hurdles. She is third in the Big Ten with just 0.02 seconds separating the top three times. Sullivan has two finals victories and one runner-up finish in her four meets this season.
• Alexia Smith ran a personal-best 23.99 in the 200m her last time out that ranks 10th in program history. The week prior, she ran an indoor personal-best 53.82 in the 400m the sits 11th in the Big Ten.
• Lauren Pegher leads the team with a 4:49.43 in the mile. It was the fastest time by a Purdue freshman in the last 15 seasons and she also ranks third among Boilers' freshmen in that span with a 9:46.45 in the 3000m.
• Nia Wilson sits ninth in the Big Ten with a 7.32 in the 60m with 0.02 seconds separating the 6-10 spots in the conference.
• Blessing Gideon (jumps) and Blessing Ogundiran (sprints) are scheduled to make their Purdue debuts. Both joined the program from Nigeria as mid-season additions in January.
