MINNEAPOLIS – Avery Worobel eclipsed another team freshman record as part of a sweep of the springboard diving events, headlining a group of five Boilermakers to post top-five benchmarks in Purdue Swimming & Diving history on the opening night of the two-day Big Ten Triple Duals.
Program record holders Kathryn Ackerman and Brady Samuels joined Worobel as the Boilermakers' event winners Friday. Ackerman was victorious in the 200 individual medley as the only competitor in the race to break two minutes in the event. Samuels won the 200 freestyle at the Big Ten Triple Duals for the second time in his career, posting his team-leading 13th individual event win of the season.
Worobel was victorious on the 1-meter springboard with a list score of 334.10, eclipsing Daryn Wright's freshman benchmark from two years ago. Worobel also moved into fifth place in program history overall. She broke Wright's freshman record on 3-meter at the Purdue Invitational in November. Worobel (354.80) teamed up with Sophie McAfee for a 1-2 finish on 3-meter Friday at the Triple Duals. Worobel won by 16.5 points on 1-meter and 13.5 points on 3-meter.
Scofield continued to drop time in the 200 butterfly, breaking 1:58 for the first time while moving up one place into fourth on the program's all-time leaderboard with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 1:57.74. Reagan Mattice (9:49.90 in the 1000 free) and Ackerman (1:59.44 in the 200 IM) also climbed into fourth place in program history Friday. Mattice broke 9:50 for the first time with her career best.

His classmates Walker Mattice and Dom Mazurek accounted for Purdue's second-best times this season in the 200 free (1:36.66) and 200 IM (1:47.76). Mattice moved into 13th place in team history and Mazurek's mark was just .28 hundredths off a spot on the all-time leaderboard as well.
The Purdue women posted team season-best times in both relays contested Friday. The 200 medley team improved on the seventh-fastest time in team history. Adele Sands followed up her top-10 time in team history in the 1000 (9:53.30, 9th) with another lifetime best in the 200 (1:48.02) on the leadoff leg of the 800 free relay.
