ROSEMONT, Ill. – After they both won a pair of individual events at the Purdue Invitational and registered lifetime best scores on the tower, Purdue's Jordan Rzepka and Daryn Wright teamed up for a sweep of the Big Ten Diver of the Week awards.
Rzepka won on 3-meter and platform at the Purdue Invitational, earning his second Diver of the Week award of the season and fifth career. Wright was victorious on 1-meter and platform at the Purdue Invite and garnered her fourth career weekly award from the conference office. She also teamed up with Sophie McAfee and Avery Worobel for a victory in the women's team diving event.
This marks the third time since the start of the 2023-24 school year that the Boilermakers have swept the Big Ten Diver of the Week awards. It's been three different trios – Max Miller and Wright in October 2023, Holden Higbie and McAfee in January, and now Rzepka and Wright. Prior to last season, Purdue had not swept the league's weekly diving awards since the 2019-20 campaign.
Wright eclipsed team and pool records on the platform that had stood since the 2017 Big Ten Championships. She bested Emily Meaney's team record by 31 points and surpassed the winning score of fellow Team USA Olympia Jessica Parratto (Indiana) that made Parratto the 2017 Big Ten champion in the event.
It took a team-record list score from McAfee on 3-meter (389.18) to keep Wright from sweeping the individual diving events at the Purdue Invitational. McAfee (366.75) also eclipsed Meaney's previous record score (359.30) on the platform.
Rzepka posted lifetime bests in all three diving events, headlined by a 106-point final dive on the tower that gave him a 502-point list total. The senior became just the fourth Boilermaker with a 500-point list on platform, joining Olympians David Boudia, Steele Johnson and Brandon Loschiavo.
Similar to the women, only Miller's lifetime best score on 1-meter (429.75) kept Rzepka from sweeping the individual events for the second time in his career at the Purdue Invite. Rzepka has won at least two individual events at each of the last three Purdue Invitationals.
Rzepka and Wright will be among the Boilermakers competing at the USA Diving Winter Nationals next month (Dec. 8-15) in Bloomington, Ind.
