8 Boilers Still Fighting After Session at Big Ten Championships

Eight Boilermakers will wrestle on into the second session at the 2024 Big Ten Wrestling Championships as the team looks to gather some momentum for the afternoon matches.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Eight Boilermakers will wrestle on into the second session at the 2024 Big Ten Wrestling Championships as the team looks to gather some momentum for the afternoon matches.

In the first match of the day, No. 11 seeded Dustin Norris upset the No. 6 seed Anthony Madrigal of Illinois in a 10-5 decision. A takedown in each period from the Cincinnati native gave him the big win over the No. 23 ranked 133-pounder nationally. It is Norris' first ranked win over a Big Ten wrestler this season.

Greyson Clark found his groove in bounce-back fashion for an impressive 14-0 major decision win for the true freshman. He faced Northwestern's Kolby McClain in the first round of the consolations and racked up eight back points to take the win. Despite missing more than a month due to injury, Clark is still second on the team in back points now with 46 on the year.

Redshirt-senior Marcos Polanco followed right in his footsteps with an 11-3 major decision win of his own over Illinois' Jake Harrier. A takedown per period gave him firm control of the match and saw him into the next round.

All eight remaining Boilermakers will fight through the wrestlebacks starting at 5:00 p.m. ET. Matches will be streamed on BigTenPlus.com.
