TULSA, Okla. – The Purdue women's tennis team defeated the University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane 4-1, claiming the second road win of the season.
The University of Tulsa took an early lead after securing the doubles point. The first doubles win came from Carmen Gallardo Guevara/Tara Katarina Milic at No. 2. The pair defeated Tulsa's Myroslava Zelenchuk/Erin McKenzie 6-4. The other Boilermaker pairs both narrowly fell after tiebreaks at 6-6.
To start singles play, No. 113 Carmen Gallardo Guevara defeated No. 125 Oleksandra Nahurska at No. 2. Winning in two straight sets, the junior claimed her first ranked win of the season. At No. 6, sophomore Ashlie Wilson beat Tulsa's Erin McKenzie, earning the Boilermakers' second point of the day.
Csilla Fodor tallied her 76 career singles win by defeating Maria Berlanga Bandera in two sets at No. 1. Clenching the final point for the Boilermakers, Kennedy Gibbs claimed her sixth straight singles victory this campaign. At No. 3, the sophomore defeated the Golden Hurricane's Lily Hutchings, extending her undefeated singles record this season. Both Tara Katarina Milic and Juana Larranaga were in the thick of their matches when Gibbs secured the win for Purdue.
