CHICAGO and CLEMSON, S.C. – The Purdue track & field team opened competition at a pair of meets on Friday, at the Windy City Invitational in Chicago and the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, South Carolina.

CHICAGO and CLEMSON, S.C. – The Purdue track & field team opened competition at a pair of meets on Friday, at the Windy City Invitational in Chicago and the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, South Carolina.
 
Squaring off against a highly competitive, nationally-ranked field, the Boilermaker distance runners, jumpers, combined event athletes and throwers are at Chicago's Dr. Conrad Worrill Track & Field Center at Gately Park. Purdue's sprinters and horizontal jumpers are at the Clemson Indoor Track & Field Complex.
 
Friday was the first of two days of competition at both venues.
 
The Boilermakers notched three personal-record times and two season-bests in Chicago, with four top-five finishes. At Clemson, Purdue posted three PRs and a season-best, as two Boilermakers advanced to the semifinal and one earned a top-10 finish.
 
At Clemson, freshman Jasiah Rogers reached the semifinal in the 60m, where he was ninth overall in 6.67. That time was just 0.01 seconds shy of matching his personal-best, which is tied for No. 5 in program history.
 
Junior Zoe Sullivan also made the semifinal in the 60m hurdles. She finished 17th overall in 8.33, just 0.02 seconds off her season best which is tied for No. 6 in the Boilermaker record books.
 
In Chicago, junior Nathan Walker was fifth in the 5,000m in 14:12.92. A personal-best that is just shy of cracking the top-10 list in school history, it is the 10th-fastest time in the Big Ten this season.
 
Sophomore Jalen Elrod was fourth in the long jump with a season-best mark of 5.69m. Junior Grant Gogel was fifth in the pole vault thanks to a clearance of 4.96m, and freshman Ryne Shackelford was fifth in the long jump thanks to a mark of 6.92m.
 
Personal bests in Chicago also were achieved by junior Taliyah Booker (400m, 56.20) and freshman Ally Wigand (5,000m, 17:09.92). Junior Jason Polydoris (5,000m, 14:34.42) notched a season-best time.
 
In South Carolina, senior Jahn Riley (400m, 47.59) and freshmen Jada Lee (60m, 7.65) and Nickens Lemba (400m, 48.07) posted PRs. Sophomore Bryanna Craig (60m hurdles, 8.77) added a season best.
 
The Windy City Invitational continues on Saturday, with Purdue's opening field event at 12 p.m. ET / 1 a.m. CT, followed by the team's first running event at 1:40 p.m. ET / 12:40 p.m. CT. The 4x400 relay will conclude the meet at 5 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. CT.
 
At the Tiger Paw Invitational, Saturday starts at 12:45 p.m. ET on the track for the Boilermakers and at 1 p.m. with the triple jump. The weekend closes with the 4x400 at 3:20 p.m.

The Windy City Invitational features 17 teams, including host-Wisconsin and fellow Big Ten foes Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota and Rutgers. Thirty-two NCAA teams are at the Tiger Paw Invitational. Along with host-Clemson, the field is comprised of Big Ten opponents Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State.
