ROSEMONT, Ill. – Jordan Rzepka's high-scoring sweep of the 1-meter and platform events in the dual with Indiana earned the junior his third career Big Ten Diver of the Week honor, becoming Purdue's fifth such honoree of the season.
Rzepka swept the diving events at a meet for the second time this season and now has seven event victories total. His team season-best scores were 409.43 on 1-meter and 496.20 on the platform. His personal-best list on the tower moved him into fourth place in program history, ranking behind only three Olympians and NCAA champions – David Boudia, Steele Johnson and Brandon Loschiavo.
Rzepka joins teammates Daryn Wright (Oct. 19, Oct. 25), Max Miller (Oct. 25), Sophie McAfee (Jan. 17) and Holden Higbie (Jan. 17) as Big Ten Diver of the Week honorees this season. It marks the first time in Purdue history that three different men and five different Boilermakers have been recognized in a campaign. The six total honors are Purdue's most since Greg Duncan and Emily Bretscher teamed up for 10 in 2019-20.
Rzepka has won the award in each of his first three collegiate seasons. He's joined Steven LoBue (4 straight from 2003-04 to 2006-07), Carrie McCambridge (2003-04 to 2005-06) and Boudia (2008-09 to 2010-11) as Boilermakers to claim Big Ten Diver of the Week in three consecutive seasons.
Rzepka's list total on platform is believed to be the best in the Big Ten this season. He won the event by 56 points thanks in part to a 105-point score on his 109C (4 ½ somersault) in round 5. Rzepka also ripped three other dives for scores of 80-plus.
Rzepka's list score on 1-meter is believed to rank second in the Big Ten this season. It was just 1.22 points shy of his personal best (410.65) from October 2021 that ranks seventh in team history. He won the event by 31 points.
McAfee, Miller and Higbie also moved up Purdue's all-time leaderboards with their career-best scores Saturday in Bloomington.
• McAfee – 327.68 on Platform, 7th in Team History
• Higbie – 425.25 on Platform, 11th in Team History
• Miller – 377.78 on 1-Meter, 11th in Team History
• McAfe – 319.95 on 1-Meter, 13th in Team History
