WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue junior center Zach Edey was named the Big Ten co-Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Edey picked up his sixth Big Ten Player of the Week of the season, now tied with the late Caleb Swanigan (2016-17) for the most weekly accolades in school history. He is now just one shy of the league record set by Ohio State's Evan Turner (2010-11). For the second straight week, he shared the honor with Indiana's Trayce Jackson-Davis.

Edey averaged 25.5 points, 15.5 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.5 assists per game in just 30.0 minutes per game. He shot 22-of-28 (.786) from the field and 7-of-9 (.778) from the free throw line in the two games.

He scored 18 points with 13 rebounds in an 80-60 win over Penn State last Wednesday night, then posted a 33-point, 18-rebound, 3-block performance against Indiana on Saturday.

For the season, Edey is averaging 22.4 points, 13.2 rebounds, 2.2 blocks and 1.4 assists per game, while shooting 62.7 percent from the field and 73.2 percent from the free throw line. In Big Ten play, his averages increase to 22.7 points, 13.8 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 1.6 assists per game.

He ranks fourth in the country in scoring, second in rebounds, first in double-doubles, 14th in field goal percentage and 21st in blocked shots.

He has recorded six 30-10 games this season, more than the rest of the Big Ten combined (5) and currently owns the most-efficient season for any player since at least the 2009-10 season, according to sports-reference.com(.) His six 30-10 games are the second most in a season for a major-college player in the last 20 years, behind the seven by Marvin Bagley of Duke in 2017-18.

Edey is doing most of his damage against the nation's top teams. In 10 games against the nation's top-50, he is averaging 25.0 points and 13.0 rebounds, while shooting over 60.0 percent. Edey (2.291) is ranked No. 1 in KenPom's Player of the Year ratings by a 0.754 points over the 2nd-ranked player, Kansas' Jalen Wilson (1.537). In fact, the space between No. 1 (Edey) and No. 2 (Wilson) is the same as the distance between No. 2 and No. 57 in the Player of the Year ratings.

Edey and the No. 1-ranked Boilermakers host Iowa on Thursday night in Mackey Arena, beginning at 7 p.m. ET, on ESPN2.
