WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue soccer coach Drew Roff has announced that Charlotte Cyr, a first team all-conference goalkeeper in 2022, will join the program as a graduate transfer for the 2023 season.
From Wethersfield, Connecticut, Cyr comes to Purdue from Dartmouth College, where she had a breakout 2022 season. Cyr will be available to play immediately in the fall with one year of eligibility remaining.
"Charlotte is a fantastic addition to our program," Roff said. "She is a high-character person and a very athletic and experienced goalkeeper. I look forward to her making an impact in the fall."
"I chose Purdue because it will push me towards academic and athletic excellence," Cyr said. "The academic curriculum seems challenging and engaging, while the athletic environment is both competitive and positive. I am excited to play with top-tier players and under a great coaching staff!"
Cyr earned First Team All-Ivy honors and NEWISA All-New England accolades during an impressive 2022 campaign at Dartmouth. She was ranked No. 9 nationally with 109 saves, eighth-most in team history and the most since 1999, and was 13th in the NCAA with 6.41 saves per game. Cyr also paced the conference with a .832 save percentage, five shutouts and 1,447 minutes played. While starting all 17 of Dartmouth's games, also a league-best among goalkeepers, Cyr recorded a 1.37 goals-against average.
After a career-high 15-save, shutout performance at Yale on October 8, Cyr earned Ivy League Player of the Week and College Soccer News National Team of the Week honors. That came six days after a 10-save outing at Princeton, and she closed out the season with another 10 saves at Cornell on November 5. Cyr opened the year with a pair of shutouts, including with nine saves at Sacred Heart in a 2-0 win on August 28.
In 2021, Cyr started all eight games she appeared in and made 44 saves for a .772 save percentage. In 757 minutes, she allowed 13 goals for a 1.54 goals-against average. Cyr made a then-career-best nine saves twice, on September 2 at Georgetown and on September 26 at Brown.
Dartmouth's 2020-21 season was cancelled due to Covid-19.
As a freshman in 2019, Cyr played in three games with one start to total 203 minutes. She made 10 saves and did not allow a goal for a 1.000 save percentage and a 0.00 goals-against average. Cyr played 90 minutes twice, highlighted by a five-save performance on October 8 at Merrimack to earn her first career win.
In three seasons at Dartmouth, Cyr played in 28 matches with 26 starts in goal. She made 163 saves for a .823 save percentage with 35 goals allowed for a 1.31 goals-against average in 2,408 minutes. Cyr posted a 13-10-3 career record with seven shutouts.
Prior to beginning her collegiate career, Cyr was a U.S. National Training Camp invitee in 2015 and 2016 and a PDP invitee from 2016-18. Playing for her club squad, FSA, and her high school team at Kingswood-Oxford, Cyr won a North American national championship in 2018 and the showcase national championship in 2017. She was a four-time all-state honoree, from 2015-18, and played in the all-star game three times. Cyr also was selected to play in the 2018 senior bowl and the 2017 junior all-star game.
Cyr will graduate from Dartmouth this spring with a degree in environmental studies. At Purdue, she will pursue a certificate in environmental policy. Following graduation and her playing career, Cyr aspires to work for a company that specializes in the conservation of marine animals and/or plant species.
Her parents are Tracy Bernard and Kenneth Cyr. She has an older brother, Matt, who played volleyball at Rhode Island and currently plays professionally for the Northeast Force.
Cyr joins a six-player signing class which was announced in November. Cyr and the incoming recruiting class will be joined by 24 returning players who currently are partaking in the opening weeks of the spring exhibition season.
