WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – After a weekend long road trip north to Wisconsin and Minnesota, Purdue Wrestling returns home to face rivals No. 25 Indiana on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. ET in Holloway Gymnasium.
The Boilermakers (4-7, 0-4 B1G) will once again be streamed on B1G+ with stats on TrackWrestling. A limited number of Purdue Wrestling "Always Aggressive" t-shirts will be given out to fans in attendance.
PURDUE POINTS • Matt Ramos starred for the Boilermakers, going 2-0 in matches against No. 6 Eric Barnett and No. 5 Patrick McKee. Both results came against former All-Americans and represent the highest ranked upsets of his career. He would not surrender a takedown to either.
• Ramos' wins helped him climb up to No. 3 in the Intermat polls. With Kendall Coleman's No. 3 ranking earlier this season, it is the first time the Boilermakers have had two teammates ranked inside the top-five in the same season since Chris Fleeger and Ben Wissel were top-five in 2006.
• Coleman's takedown tally is up to 74 on the year, which is already the second most he's ever put up in a single-season (Most: 95 in 2019-20). Defensively, he has only given up five takedowns across four matches.
• Purdue head coach Tony Ersland is one dual win away from having sole possession of third most in program history. He is currently tied with Scott Hinkel (2008-14) with 74. He is already solo third in Big Ten, home and road wins.
• The Boilermakers are outscoring their opponents by 103 in the first period and have scored first in 200 of their 369 matches thus far on the season.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• 1 - Matt Ramos and Kendall Coleman both own the most wins (22) and matches wrestled (25) of anyone ranked inside the top-15 at any weight.

• 146 - Parker Filius has 146 career back points, putting him in a tie for 16th in program history. RUN IT BACK The heated rivalry between these two programs goes back to 1914 and the Hoosiers hold a 42-62-3 advantage over the Boilermakers, but the 21st century has been all Purdue. Since 2000, the old gold and black have won 16-of 23 and 12 in a row since 2011.
In the 12 dual winning streak, Purdue has outscored Indiana 283-134 and won by an average margin of 12.6 team points. Tony Ersland is 9-0 in duals against the Hoosiers since taking over the helm in 2014.
The last two meetings in which an unranked Purdue faced a ranked Indiana, the Boilers came away victorious.
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION No. 25 Indiana is 6-2 (2-2 B1G) this season, having picked up their signature wins in upsets of No. 16 Maryland and No. 16 Rutgers. The Hoosiers and the Boilermakers both come in to this match having last wrestled against No. 13 Minnesota. Indiana also lost their matchup with the Golden Gophers, falling 28-6 in Bloomington.
The Hoosiers will bring five ranked wrestlers to West Lafayette, only one of which has been an NCAA qualifier. DJ Washington made it to Detroit last season as the No. 26 seed and lost both of his matches. LAST TIME OUT Purdue wrestling made a weekend road trip north to #16 Wisconsin and #13 Minnesota, showing signs of development from Ersland's young team in loses to the two highly ranked programs. The Golden Gophers brought three former All-Americans to the contest and the Boilermakers beat all three.
Matt Ramos led the way on the weekend with his pair of upset victories. Against Wisconsin, Dustin Norris and true-freshman Brody Baumann earned their first Big Ten dual wins. In the match with Minnesota, Parker Filius, Kendall Coleman, and Hayden Copass all picked up wins over ranked opposition, the first of Copass' career.
TITLE TYPE OF YEAR It's been quite the run for Matt Ramos over the last few months. He has claimed titles at the Southern Scuffle, Clarion Open and a freestyle title at the U.S. Open in addition to a runner-up finish at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational.
In those four tournaments, he is 17-1 with eight bonus point wins including four tech falls and three pins. He beat four ranked opponents along the way. SIGNED, SEALED, DELIVERED Head coach Tony Ersland has announced the 2023 Purdue wrestling signing class, inking six new Boilermakers to national letters of intent. He welcomes Joey Blaze, Greyson Clark, Orlando Cruz, Ashton Jackson, Delaney Ruhlman and Cole Solomey to the Boilermaker family to make up what will surely be Ersland's sixth top-25 recruiting class.
Blaze and Clark highlight the class as the No. 17 and No. 33 ranked prospects respectively with five state titles between the two of them. Purdue is one of just nine schools to have at least two top-35 ranked signees.
