BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – NCAA competition commences as the Purdue track & field team travels to Bloomington, Indiana, for the NCAA East Preliminary Round from May 25-28.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – NCAA competition commences as the Purdue track & field team travels to Bloomington, Indiana, for the NCAA East Preliminary Round from May 25-28.
 
Twenty-one Boilermakers will compete in 24 events for a berth at the NCAA Championships. The four-day meet will be held at Indiana's Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex.
 
The men compete on Wednesday, May 25, and Friday, May 27, and the women compete on Thursday, May 26, and Saturday, May 28. On Wednesday, the Purdue men's first event is at 10 a.m. ET, and, due to inclement weather expected in the area, the team's evening events are now set for 2-5:45 pm. Inclement weather also impacts Thursday's schedule, and the Boilermaker women are in action from 1:30-5:10 p.m. The men return to the track on Friday, with the squad's running and field events from 5-9 p.m. The weekend concludes on Saturday, as the women are set to compete at 1 p.m. and from 5-9 p.m.

A complete breakdown of Purdue's athletes, their events and the specific times when they will be competing is outlined below.
 
Eleven Purdue women qualified in 14 events, as the team will be represented by juniors Jessica Bray (pole vault) and Camille Christopher (100m, 200m, 4x100), sophomores Naomi Campbell (4x100), Kaia Harris (discus), Saran Kouyeth (100, 4x100, 4x400), Annamaria Leszczynska (400m hurdles), Kerris Roberts (100m, 200m, 4x100), K'Ja Talley (400m hurdles, 4x400) and Cierra Williams (400m, 4x400) and freshmen Shianne Dacosta (400m, 4x400) and Rieko Wilford (triple jump).
 
For the men, 10 Boilermakers will compete in 10 events, thanks to seniors Kelly Cook Jr. (hammer throw), Curt Eckstein (10,000m), Tamar Greene (triple jump), Amir Harris (4x100) and Antonio Mitchell II (100m, 200m, 4x100), junior Justin Becker (4x100), sophomores Jabari Bryant (400m hurdles), LJ Hill (triple jump) and Safin Wills (long jump, triple jump, 4x100) and freshman Tyneilus Morrow (4x100).
 
The NCAA East Prelims, along with the West Prelims, feature 48 qualifiers in each individual event and 24 teams in each relay. The top 12 finishers in every event from both the east and west will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon, from June 8-11.
 
JESSICA BRAY: POLE VAULT
Making her second consecutive NCAA appearance, Bray competes in the pole vault on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. She qualified with a mark of 4.02 meters and is seeded No. 48. Last year at the NCAA prelims, the Fishers, Indiana, native cleared 4.17 meters, third-best in program history, and finished 16th after entering the meet seeded No. 47.
 
JABARI BRYANT: 400m HURDLES
Bryant will race in the 400m hurdles, with the first round on Wednesday at 4:20 p.m. and the quarterfinals on Friday at 7:25 p.m. In his NCAA debut, Bryant is seeded No. 36 with a time of 51.63, which is No. 6 in school history and the second-fastest since 2016. The Tallahassee, Florida, native earned the top-10 mark earlier this year on Indiana's track.
 
CAMILLE CHRISTOPHER: 100m, 200m, 4x100
As she qualified for her third NCAA prelims, Christopher will run in the 100m and 200m for a second year in a row. The first round is on Thursday, with the 100m at 3 p.m. and the 200m at 4:45 p.m., while the quarterfinals are on Saturday at 6:35 p.m. (100m) and 7:50 p.m. (200m). Christopher is seeded No. 18 in the 100m in 11.29w and No. 27 in the 200m in 23.26.
 
A Noblesville, Indiana, native, Christopher is No. 4 in school history in the 100m (11.41) and tied for No. 4 in the 200m (23.26), both the fastest by a Boilermaker since 2018. The marks were set last weekend at the Big Ten Championships, as she earned a pair of podium finishes, highlighted by a bronze medal in the 200m. A year ago at the prelims, Christopher was 23rd in the 100m and 26th in the 200m.
 
KELLY COOK JR.: HAMMER THROW
In the first event of the meet, Cook Jr. will compete in the hammer throw on Thursday at 10 a.m. He is the No. 17 seed with a throw of 66.08m that is No. 5 in school history. Cook Jr. was sixth in the hammer throw 10 days ago at the Big Ten Championships. In his first year as a Boilermaker, the Buena Vista, Virginia, native is making his fourth NCAA prelim appearance. It comes after a trio of berths at William & Mary, highlighted by a 24th-place finish nationally in the discus at the 2019 NCAA Championships.
 
SHIANNE DACOSTA: 400m, 4x400
Dacosta qualified in the 400m, where she will run in the first round on Thursday at 3:25 p.m. and the quarterfinal on Saturday at 6:50 p.m. She is seeded No. 32 with a time of 53.31. The freshman from Clarendon, Jamaica, native will make her NCAA debut this week.
 
CURT ECKSTEIN: 10,000m
Eckstein will race in the 10,000m on Wednesday at 5:10 p.m. He qualified for his 12th NCAA competition and fourth east prelims and is the No. 25 seed. With a time of 28.54.93, the Oldenburg, Indiana, native is second in program history in the event. Eckstein won silver in the 10,000m at the Big Ten Championships on May 13 and was 19th at the 2021 NCAA prelims.
 
TAMAR GREENE: TRIPLE JUMP
A three-time All-American, two-time Big Ten champion and four-time Big Ten medalist in the triple jump, Greene will compete at his sixth career NCAA event and third east prelims. He is seeded No. 32 in the triple jump with a mark of 15.56m-w and will compete on Friday at 6 p.m. Greene, who was 12th at the NCAA Championships in 2021, is No. 3 in program history with a jump of 16.37m. A Nassau, Bahamas, native, Greene was sixth at Big Tens, the sixth time indoors or outdoors he has reached the triple jump podium.
 
KAIA HARRIS: DISCUS
Harris will compete at her second NCAA prelims in as many years in the discus on Saturday at 1 p.m. She is the No. 7 overall seed with a throw of 56.53m. The mark, which is No. 2 in the school record books, was set a month ago at Indiana. From West Lafayette, Harris was fourth at Big Tens in the discus less than two weeks ago and 31st at the 2021 east prelims.
 
LJ HILL: TRIPLE JUMP
Hill makes his NCAA debut in the triple jump on Friday at 6 p.m. He is seeded No. 23 with a jump of 15.64m. Just shy of a spot on Purdue's top-10 list, the mark was achieved earlier this season in Bloomington. At the Big Ten Championships, the Hoover, Alabama, native made the finals and was ninth in the triple jump.
 
SARAN KOUYETH: 100m, 4x100, 4x400
Kouyeth qualified for her second east prelims and will compete in an individual event for the first time in the 100m. The first round is on Thursday at 3 p.m. and the quarterfinal is set for Saturday at 6:35 p.m. She is seeded No. 37 with a time of 11.46, sixth-fastest in program history. Last season, the Sandy Springs, Georgia, native helped Purdue qualify for the NCAA Championships in the 4x400, where the Boilermakers placed 20th nationally.
 
ANNAMARIA LESZCZYNSKA: 400m HURDLES
Leszczynska will run in the 400m hurdles and is seeded 39th with a time of 59.22. The first round is on Thursday at 4:20 p.m. and the quarterfinal is at 7:25 p.m. on Saturday. From Nicholls, Australia, Leszczynska is competing at her second career NCAA meet in the 400m hurdles, and she was 29th at prelims a year ago.
 
ANTONIO MITCHELL II: 100m, 200m, 4x100
In his first season in the Old Gold and Black, Mitchell II qualified in the 100m and 200m. The first round is on Wednesday, with the 100m at 3 p.m. and the 200m at 4:45 p.m., while the quarterfinals are on Friday at 6:35 p.m. (100m) and 7:50 p.m. (200m). Mitchell II is the No. 11 seed in the 200m, in 20.35w, and the No. 16 seed in the 100m in 10.12w.
 
Mitchell II has top-10 marks in school history in both events, with a 10.25 in the 100m that is No. 5 all-time and a 20.69 in the 200m that ranks No. 8. From Moreno Valley, California, he won silver in the 200m at the Big Ten Championships and was fourth in the 100m, both with his regional-qualifying times. Mitchell II is making his second NCAA appearance and first at Purdue after racing in the 4x100 at the 2021 west prelims.
 
KERRIS ROBERTS: 100m, 200m, 4x100
Roberts will make her NCAA debut and run in the 100m and 200m. In Thursday's first round, the 100m is at 3 p.m. and the 200m is at 4:45 p.m., while Saturday's quarterfinal has the 100m at 6:35 p.m. and the 200m at 7:50 p.m. Roberts qualified with the No. 37 seed in the 200m, in 23.46, and the No. 44 100m time of 11.52.
 
The Waterloo, Iowa, native has top-10 times in school history in both events. Roberts is No. 6 in the 200m, in 23.58, and tied for No. 10 in the 100m, in 11.65. At the Big Ten Championships, she was fifth in the 200m and ninth in the 100m.
 
K'JA TALLEY: 400m HURDLES, 4x400
Talley is back at the NCAA prelims in the 400m hurdles for the second year in a row after she was 13th last season. Talley will run in the first round on Thursday at 4:20 p.m., with the quarterfinal set for Saturday at 7:25 p.m. She is seeded No. 9 with a time of 57.42, third-fastest in Purdue history. That mark came in the prelims at the Big Ten Championships for the Dearborn, Michigan, native.
 
RIEKO WILFORD: TRIPLE JUMP
Wilford will compete in her first NCAA event in the triple jump on Saturday at 6 p.m. She is seeded No. 33 with a jump of 12.79m. It is No. 5 in Purdue history and the best since 2014. At her first outdoor Big Ten Championships, the University Place, Washington, native was seventh and reached the podium for the first time.
 
CIERRA WILLIAMS: 400m, 4x400
Williams is back at the NCAA East Prelims for the second consecutive year in the 400m. The first round is on Thursday at 3:25 p.m. and the quarterfinal is on Saturday at 6:50 p.m. Williams is the No. 29 seed with a time of 53.17. The mark, set at Indiana last month, is fifth-fastest in program history and the best since 2018. An Indianapolis native, Williams was 40th in the prelims last season and posted an eighth-place finish at Big Tens two weeks ago.
 
SAFIN WILLS: LONG JUMP, TRIPLE JUMP, 4x100
Wills, the Big Ten triple jump champion, qualified in the long jump and triple jump. He will compete in the long jump on Wednesday at 2 p.m. and on Friday at 6 p.m. He is the No. 7 overall seed in the triple jump, thanks to a mark of 16.20m, and No. 15 in the long jump with a jump of 7.83m. Both rank No. 5 in the school record books. Wills' triple jump of 16.20m came at Indiana in April, and he matched it at Big Tens to win the title. The Rock Hall, St. Andrew, Jamaica, native also reached the podium in the long jump at the Big Ten meet where he was fourth.
 
WOMEN'S 4x100 RELAY
The women's 4x100 relay runs on Saturday at 5 p.m. The squad is the No. 14 seed thanks to a time of 44.51 that is No. 6 in program history. Kouyeth, Roberts, Campbell and Christopher are coming off a fourth-place finish at the Big Ten Championships. That time of 44.53 was just shy of their season-best of 44.51, achieved in early April at Texas A&M. At the 2021 NCAA prelims, the Boilermakers were 14th in 44.54, then the sixth-fastest time in the record books, thanks to Kouyeth, Talley, Campbell and Christopher.
 
WOMEN'S 4x400 RELAY
The four-day meet concludes with the women's 4x400 relay on Saturday at 8:45 p.m. Talley, Williams, Kouyeth and Dacosta are the No. 11 seed with a mark of 3:34.31. Set in late April at IU, it's tied for No. 8 all-time. The 4x400 is back after finishing 20th nationally last season, as a team that included Talley, Williams and Kouyeth was 12th at prelims.
 
MEN'S 4x100 RELAY
The men's 4x100 relay is seeded No. 21 with a time of 39.78. The quarterfinal is on Friday at 5 p.m. to begin the day on the track. Amir Harris, Mitchell II, Becker, Morrow and Wills are set to represent the Boilermakers, as their season-best mark was achieved at the Drake Relays in late April. A year ago, Becker helped Purdue reach the NCAA Championships and finish 19th overall after the squad posted a time of 39.06 at prelims, the second-fastest mark in school history.
 
UP NEXT: NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
The NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships is up next, from June 8-11 in Eugene, Oregon. Junior Isaiah Martin has qualified in the decathlon, an event that is not contested at the NCAA East Prelims, and he will be joined by Boilermakers who finish in the top 12 in their events this week.
