WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue's own Dan Ross, the Head Golf Professional and Director of Instruction at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex, has been named the recipient of the Indiana Section PGA's Player Development Award for 2022.
The award honors a PGA Professional for extraordinary and exemplary contributions and achievements in the area of player development, while also considering the impact on his/her facility and the game as a whole. Having also won the award in 2014, Ross earns the accolade for the second time in his career.
A PGA member since 1995, Ross joined the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex staff in 2004 as the Head PGA Professional before adding Director of Instruction to his title in 2006. Helping grow the game of golf, Ross organizes several development programs at the club such as First Tee-Indiana, Drive Chip and Putt, and the PGA Jr. League.
At Purdue, Ross coordinates and teaches golf classes called, "Golf: For Business and Life" and "Advanced Golf Applications" for both undergrad and graduate students. Between the junior programs and the college classes, Ross has provided opportunities for collaboration with numerous PGA Professionals.
Ross also volunteers with the PGA Hope program at Prairie View Golf Course, giving instruction to military veterans.
Realizing the importance of technology with teaching, Ross utilizes the V1 Video system to provide swing analysis. He also does club fitting in a variety of brands, helping find the right match for golfers wanting new clubs.
