Matt Ramos, Kendall Coleman and Parker Filius will represent Purdue wrestling in the second session of the 2022 Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational

Las Vegas, Nev. – Matt Ramos, Kendall Coleman and Parker Filius will represent Purdue wrestling in the second session of the 2022 Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational. Ramos and Coleman advanced to the championship quarter-finals after winning all of their matches in the opening round in the Las Vegas Convention Center. Session two bouts will begin at 9:00 p.m. ET.

Ramos, the No. 2 seed at 125-pounds, was given a first round bye to start his tournament. Starting in the round of 16, he took care of business against Long Island's Robert Sagaris in a 5-3 decision to book his spot in the quarters. The redshirt sophomore is now 10-0 on the year, scoring first in every single one of those matches.

The redshirt senior 157-pounder Coleman won his first two matches with ease as he claimed 10-5 and 6-1 decisions over Graham Gambrall or Oregon State and Aaron Ferguson of Kent State. With five takedowns on the day, he takes the lead for the most on the team this season with 39 and moves within one of the 16th most by a Boilermaker in their career with 253.

Filius won his opening match in the 141-pound class via a 17-2 (5:23) tech fall over Hofstra's Justin Hoyle. It was his first tech of the season and the fifth of his career. He lost a close 3-2 decision to #15 Cleveland Belton of Oregon State despite being the aggressor for much of the match before bouncing back with a 4-1 win over Clarion's Seth Koleno.

Two other Boilermakers picked up bonus point wins in session one. In his second match, sophomore Dustin Norris earned the second shutout win of his career in a 9-0 major decision victory over Harvard's Dante Frinzi. A few bouts later, fellow sophomore Stoney Buell impressed in his first career tech fall victory. The Dundee, Mich., native racked up eight back points in the first period to win 17-1 (5:49).

The trio will look to continue their quest for the podium in round two, with matches set  to start around 9:00 p.m. ET. All three were placewinners at last year's tournament. Coleman will be looking to become the sixth three-time CKLV medal winner in program history.
