BERLIN – Purdue alumni and Big Ten champions Brandon Loschiavo and Greg Duncan are bringing home medals from the FINA Diving World Cup, finishing on the podium for USA Diving at the international showcase.
Loschiavo (2017-21) earned bronze on 10-meter after finishing third in both Thursday's preliminary and Sunday's final. The Olympian and 2021 NCAA champion on the tower posted list scores of 408.65 and 429.95, improving on his prelim mark by 21.3 points in the final. He had five dives earn scores of 70-plus in the final, with his top two scores (79.55, 79.20) coming in the final two rounds.
Duncan (2019-22) won silver in synchronized 3-meter with Tyler Downs, posting a list score of 354 in the finals-only event Saturday. Duncan & Downs had strong scores of 68.34 and 69.30 in rounds 4 and 5 to cement themselves in a position to medal, besting the third-place duo from Australia by 4.59 points.
Loschiavo won his fourth career FINA medal and second in an individual event. Most recently, he medaled in both 10-meter events at the FINA Diving Grand Prix in his native Southern California in April 2019. Duncan's accomplishment was his third career FINA medal, previously winning bronze in synchro events at FINA Diving Grand Prix events in Italy and Spain in July 2018.
Both Purdue graduates continue to train under the guidance of coach Adam Soldati at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center.
Team USA won six medals at the FINA Diving World Cup, ranking second behind only China, the preeminent international power in the sport.
