BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Two advanced to the quarterfinals and two top-10 times in program history were set as the Purdue track & field team competed at the NCAA East Preliminary Round on Thursday afternoon in Bloomington, Indiana.

Junior Camille Christopher and sophomore K'Ja Talley moved on to race on Saturday in the 200 meters and 400m hurdles, respectively, while Christopher and sophomore Kerris Roberts recorded two of the six-fastest 200m times in school history.

Christopher, Roberts and Talley accounted for five of 10 Boilermaker entries on the second day of the NCAA East Prelims at Indiana's Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex. The men opened the meet on Wednesday, and will race again on Friday, while competition for the women concludes on Saturday. A total of 21 Boilermakers are at the four-day meet vying for a spot as one of the top 12 finishers in each event to advance to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon, from June 8-11.

Yesterday, the men qualified two to the NCAA Championships, advanced three to the quarterfinals and had three top-10 marks in the record books. A complete recap from Wednesday's action can be found at PurdueSports.com/TrackField.

The final event of the day for Purdue was the 200m, where Christopher finished 19th overall in 23.19. She took sole possession of the fourth-fastest time in team history and bested her previous PR of 23.26. Thursday's time is the fastest by a Boilermaker since 2018. Christopher, who was seeded No. 27 in the event, automatically qualified for Saturday with the third-fastest time in heat six.

Four heats earlier, Roberts finished in 23.42 to improve her place as the sixth-fastest time in the record books, which was with a time of 23.58. She finished fourth in the second heat and 29th overall, just shy of a spot in Saturday's quarterfinal after qualifying for the meet as the 37th seed.

Talley was the first Boilermaker of the day to advance to Saturday and did so in the 400m hurdles. She crossed the finish line in 58.16, her second-fastest time in 2022 and third-fastest in her career. Talley was second in the third heat to automatically qualify for the quarterfinal.

Also in the 400m hurdles, sophomore Annamaria Leszczynska was 25th in 59.37, one spot away from moving on. It was Leszczynska's second-fastest time in the event this season and she entered the meet seeded No. 37.

Less than two hours before they ran the 200m, Christopher, Roberts and sophomore Saran Kouyeth raced in the first round of the 100m. Christopher was 29th in 11.52 for her second-fastest wind-legal time this season. Roberts finished 36th in 11.66w and Kouyeth was 40th in 11.72w.

Junior Jessica Bray opened the day in the pole vault and cleared 3.96m to tie for 39th place overall. She entered the meet as the No. 48 seed.

In the 400m, sophomore Cierra Williams was 40th in 54.46 and freshman Shianne Dacosta, who made her NCAA debut, was 44th in 55.66.

The men return to the track on Friday, with the squad's running and field events from 5-8:10 p.m. The weekend concludes on Saturday, as the women are set to compete at 1 p.m. and from 5-9 p.m.
