WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – In its second game in four days, the Purdue soccer team defeated UIC 3-1 in a spring exhibition match on Saturday afternoon at Folk Field in West Lafayette, Indiana.

A pair of first-half goals gave the Boilermakers a 2-0 lead after 45 minutes. In the second half, both sides found a goal for the 3-1 final.

Saturday's contest was the third of three matches for Purdue this spring and the first at Folk Field. Previously in exhibition action, the squad hosted Evansville at the Mollenkopf Athletic Center on February 26 and traveled to Notre Dame on Tuesday night.

The spring slate concludes at home against DePaul on Saturday, April 23, at 2 p.m. ET. Admission is free for all fans.

The Old Gold and Black are coming off a memorable 2021 campaign, as they went 15-4-3, their second-best record and second-most wins in team history behind only 2007. Purdue made the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2009, and seventh time in program history, and advanced to the second round for the fourth time and first since 2007. The squad went 8-2-0 in the Big Ten and notched a runner-up finish, both tied for their best-ever marks.

Purdue finished the year ranked No. 24 in the final United Soccer Coaches Top 25 national poll, appearing in the postseason poll for the third time ever and the first since 2007. Individual accolades included an All-America honor, two All-Region accolades, five All-Big Ten Team awards, the Big Ten Forward of the Year and the first two NWSL draft picks in team history.
