LINCOLN, Neb. - The brackets for the 2022 Big Ten Wrestling Championships were finalized Friday, unveiling the seeds and first-round opponents for Purdue at this weekend's tournament. The Boilermakers had one seed change from Monday's announcement, as sophomore Gerrit Nijenhuis was dropped from the No. 7 to No. 8 seed at 174 pounds.
Nine of the 10 Purdue seeds and matchups held from Monday's pre-seeds, drawing opponents from Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Nebraska, Penn State and Rutgers. Nijenhuis' first-round foe was switched from Illinois' D.J. Shannon to Dominic Solis of Maryland.
Junior Kendall Coleman remained the highest-seeded Boilermakers, earning the No. 4 spot at 157 pounds, followed closely by No. 5 seed Devin Schroder at 125 and No. 6 seed Thomas Penola at 197.
The first of four sessions will begin Saturday, March 5, at 11 a.m. ET, with full event coverage on the Big Ten Network and B1G+. In addition to the 2022 Big Ten Championship being decided, this weekend's tournament will award 88 automatic bids to the NCAA Championships, set for March 17-19 in Detroit.
