WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Head coach Dave Shondell and the Purdue volleyball program welcomed Iowa transfer Hannah Clayton to the team. Clayton, a graduate student who will study Human Resource Management, has one remaining year of eligibility.

Clayton is a 6-2 middle blocker with four years of experience playing at the Big Ten level at Iowa.

"We made significant improvement to our roster with the addition of one of the fastest and most efficient middle-attackers in the Big Ten Conference," Shondell said. "Hannah will be one of the most experienced players in the league after starting the past four seasons for Iowa. She is a fierce competitor that Boilermaker fans will appreciate from the opening serve."

For the last three seasons, Clayton led Iowa in total blocks, including 53.5 last fall while contributing the second-most points on the team with 248.5. Meanwhile, as a junior in 2020, Clayton also led the squad in hitting % (.349) while ranking among the league's best as 10th in the Big Ten in hitting %, 13th in total blocks and 20th in blocks per set. Moreover, during her junior campaign Clayton recorded the league's fourth-highest attack % in a four-set match with a .667 efficiency versus Indiana.

"I chose this team because of the long-time legacy of success and outstanding culture that has remained consistent in this program," Clayton said. "I felt so welcomed by the staff and players as soon as I stepped on campus."

Clayton, a product of Bloomington, Illinois, is the second student-athlete to transfer to Purdue, following defensive specialist Emily Brown joining the program in December.
