WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Athletics is asking fans to wear the free T-shirts they will find on their seats at Mackey Arena for Sunday's Big Ten Conference showdown against Maryland, televised nationally on CBS at 1 p.m. ET. Purdue is giving out almost 15,000 free T-shirts with a gold or black version to be placed on each seat.
The Boilermakers are 21-4 overall and 10-4 in the Big Ten Conference, one-half game behind Wisconsin and Illinois for the top spot in the league.
The annual T-shirt game has received national acclaim from many media outlets as it creates a stunning visual display for a national television audience - showcasing Mackey Arena as the top college basketball venue in America. Sunday's game will be televised nationally by CBS with Spero Dedes and Clark Kellogg calling the game courtside at Mackey Arena. The Boilermakers' contest with Maryland will be the only nationally-televised game starting at 1 p.m. ET, and will be a perfect lead-in to the Super Bowl.
All T-shirts are extra large (XL). If the shirts are too big or too small, we ask that fans find their seats in the color-coded map and wear the appropriate color of shirt to obtain maximum coverage. The stunning visual effect ONLY WORKS IF FANS WEAR THEIR SHIRTS.
The object of the placement of each shirt is to create a drastic visual design around the facility that will be eye-catching during the national broadcast, and to showcase Purdue basketball and Mackey Arena.
Previously, the annual T-shirt game has been held against Ohio State (twice), Wisconsin (twice), Michigan State, Virginia, Boston College and North Carolina State. This marks the ninth straight year that fans have been allowed to attend (2021 – COVID season) that a T-shirt game has been held.
The game is sold out.
