WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue women's swimming & diving closes out its home schedule with its first head-to-head dual vs. a Big Ten rival at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center since Halloween Weekend, welcoming Illinois to campus for the Senior Day meet.
Action begins at 11 a.m. ET after the Boilermakers welcome the Purdue Big Bass Drum back to the pool for the Senior Day ceremony at 10:45 a.m. Fans and the general public are reminded current Protect Purdue protocols require facial coverings for indoor settings, including all meets at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center.
Seven seniors will be recognized Saturday – student-athletes McKenna Jule, Jade Knueppel, Maggie Merriman, Emily (Bretscher) Pfeiffer and Tessa Wrightson plus team manager Duncan Manger and student athletic trainer Elizabeth Michael.
Purdue's 2022 senior class has helped the program continue to excel academically. As All-American divers, Merriman and Pfeiffer have led the way in accolades. But all five members of this year's senior class have been important to the program.
Pfeiffer is a Big Ten champion, Big Ten Diver of the Year and Big Ten Medal of Honor recipient. Merriman is also a multi-year medal winner at the Big Ten Championships and joins Jule and Wrightson as Boilermakers with an opportunity to graduate as three-year Big Ten Distinguished Scholars for maintaining 3.7-plus grade-point averages. Knueppel has been among Purdue's top sprinters the last four years, with her freshman record in the 50 freestyle (23.06) standing until Hannah Hill eclipsed it at the Purdue Invitational in November. Jule and Wrightson have maintained an active presence at practice this season despite injuries keeping them out of the water.
