The No. 17 Purdue wrestling team won four of the 10 matches in Mackey Arena on Sunday.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The No. 17 Purdue wrestling team won four of the 10 matches in Mackey Arena on Sunday, falling to eighth-ranked, visiting Wisconsin 23-12. Sophomore Matt Ramos picked up an upset, ranked win at 133 pounds, while three other Boilermakers turned away ranked opponents as the Boilermakers moved to 8-4 overall and 2-3 in conference duals.

Ramos took another match down to the wire Sunday, scoring in the final 10 seconds to pick up his 13th win of the season. He opened the dual with a nasty duck to take a 2-0 lead over 25th-ranked Kyle Burwick, and after the Wisconsin sophomore tied the match with a pair of escapes Ramos won a third-period scramble with time winding down to seal the win.

At 157 pounds Purdue junior Kendall Coleman turned away 27th-ranked Garrett Model, scoring in the first and third periods to account for his fifth straight win. Coleman hit a double-leg in the first period to open the scoring, and after an escape in the second he tacked on another score in the third to finish off the reigning Big Ten Wrestler of the Week. Coleman is now 12-3 on the season and 3-0 in conference duals.

Sophomore Gerrit Nijenhuis needed extra time at 174 pounds to pick up his 15th win of the season, taking No. 22 Andrew McNally to overtime before a 3-1 victory. The two wrestlers traded escapes to start the second and third periods, but Nijenhuis wasted little time in the extra stanza, getting to a double-leg shot and finishing for the two. He improves to 4-1 in conference duals with the victory and has won three straight.
