WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – With the start of the Purdue men's golf season just weeks away, the Purdue men's golf team is putting the finishing touches on a strong summer of golf.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – With the start of the Purdue men's golf season just weeks away, the Purdue men's golf team is putting the finishing touches on a strong summer of golf.
 
Outside of playing in tournaments around the country, the team stayed in West Lafayette for the majority of the summer and training at Purdue.
 
Leading the summer charge was Joe Weiler. The Bloomington, Indiana, native, who will use his CoVid senior season in 2021-22, won the Northern Amateur, was third at the Northeast Amateur, 12th at the Monroe Invitational and 18th at the Dogwood Invitational. He also competed in the Western Amateur and won medalist honors by five shots at a U.S. Amateur qualifier, thus competing in the U.S. Amateur at Oakmont last week.
 
Nick Dentino also qualified for the U.S. Amateur after winning medalist honors at sectional qualifying. Dentino placed fourth at both the Indiana Amateur and Indiana Open. In mid-June, Dentino won the Indiana PGA Northern Open title by one shot.

Herman Sekne posted three top-10 finishes this summer, first finishing 7th at the Trans-Miss Am in June, then placing sixth at the Golfweek Myrtle Beach Amateur in mid-June and 10th at the Porter Cup in late July.

Cole Bradley competed well in several events this summer and was named an honorable mention All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) in mid-July.
 
Andrew Farraye won the Golfweek Purdue Amateur by one shot over teammate Peyton Snoeberger in late July at the Ackerman-Allen Golf Course. T16 at Chattanooga Choo Choo Amateur.
 
Incoming freshman Andrew White advanced to the USGA Junior Am, after winning a 7-hole playoff to advance.
 
Kent Hsiao arrived in the United States a few weeks ago from Taiwan and in his first action of the fall, placed fifth at the American Junior Golf Association's Detroit Junior at Forest Lake.
 
In addition, Weiler, Farraye and Bradley were all named All-American scholars, while Weiler was voted to the CoSIDA at-large Academic All-District first team.
 
On the professional tours, Adam Schenk has finished in the top 125 and will compete in the FedEx Cup Playoffs for the second straight year. He finished 103rd in the FedEx Cup standings and will compete this weekend at the Northern Trust at Liberty National Golf Club in New Jersey.
 
Tyler Duncan played in 33 events and netted almost $500,000. He will be exempt on the PGA Tour next season after winning the RSM Classic early on in the 2019-20 campaign.
 
Stuart Macdonald has found success on the Korn Ferry Tour, ranking 60th on their official rankings list. Macdonald will play in the final three events, looking for a win that would boost him into the PGA Tour next season.
 
Fernando Barco qualified for his first U.S. Open when he won medalist honors at local qualifying, then won a 9-for-1 playoff on the first hole to play at Torrey Pines.
 
Lastly, Brian Carlson currently ranks 18th on the Forme Tour and placed tied for third at the Birck Boilermaker Classic at the Kampen Course.
 
The Purdue men's golf team will open the season at the Erin Hills Intercollegiate on Sept. 5 to 7, at Eric Hills Golf Course in Hartford, Wis.
