WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Featuring a 16-match all-Big Ten slate, the Purdue women's tennis team received its 2021 dual schedule from the Big Ten Conference.
Purdue will host eight matches at the Schwartz Tennis Center and travel for eight contests. Purdue will face Michigan, Illinois and Indiana twice, while playing Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Maryland and Rutgers once.
The dual slate starts on the road at Ohio State and Penn State on Feb. 12 and Feb. 14, respectively.
The Boilermakers will open play at the Schwartz Tennis Center on against Michigan State on Feb. 20 and Michigan on Feb. 21, before a back-to-back road swing to Nebraska (Feb. 26) and Iowa (Feb. 28) closes out the month of February.
The month of March opens with a trio of matches at home. Purdue will face in-state foe Indiana for the first time March 7 in West Lafayette. A week later, the Boilermakers will host Minnesota on March 12 and Wisconsin on March 14.
Following a two-match road trip to Northwestern (March 20) and Illinois (March 21), the Boilermakers will play Maryland (March 27) and Rutgers (March 28) at the Schwartz Tennis Center.
Purdue will play at Michigan on April 3, before returning home for the final home match of the regular season against Illinois a week later on April 11.
The 2021 regular season wraps up April 18 with a visit to Indiana.
The Big Ten Tournament will be played in Madison, Wisc., on April 28 through May 2.
There will be no fan, family or friend admittance at the Schwartz Tennis Center during the 2021 season, but all home contests will be streamed live for free through PurdueSports.com.
The Boilermakers already opened the spring campaign last weekend with the Purdue Invite against Michigan State, Iowa and Illinois. Sophomore Csilla Fodor posted a perfect 3-0 mark in singles play, while Ena Babic started her singles season with a win over the No. 107-ranked player in the nation.
Head coach Laura Glitz enters her 14th campaign in West Lafayette, as the Boilermakers vie for their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2015 and first Big Ten Tournament title since 2012.
2020 Big Ten All-Conference selection Ena Babic, along with fellow seniors Zala Dovnik and Seira Shimizu, lead a talented squad that gained valuable experience during the shorted season last year. The Boilermakers were 5-8 before the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the remaining nine contests.
