• Ersland wrestled for the University of Iowa from 1992-97, qualifying for the NCAA Tournament at 177, and competing on the highest scoring team at the NCAA Championships in history (170).
• Purdue's season-opening win at Drexel marks eight straight seasons that the Boilermakers have won their first dual of the year under Ersland.
• The Boilermakers won their last two duals of 2021, earning a 21-12 win at Michigan State and posting a 38-3 win over Indiana, and carry a five-dual win streak into the weekend.
Devin Schroder and Max Lyon capitalized on the NCAA's COVID extension waiver, returning for an extra year of eligibility in 2021-22.
• Schroder ranks second in program history in back points, collecting 444 to date, and is tied for 17th all-time at Purdue with a .721 win percentage (80-31).
• 41 of Schroder's 80 career wins have come with bonus points (.513), including 22 technical falls, while 33 of his career victories are shutouts (.413).
Matt Ramos won the 2018 Cadet Freestyle World Championship for the U.S., capturing the 51 kg title in Zagreb, Croatia.
• Ramos's two wins to open the season were his first official folkstyle matches since his senior year of high school at Lockport HS (Illinois) in 2019, winning by technical fall and fall in the two bouts.
• The Boilermakers first three weights are a combined 9-0 through three duals, accounting for two falls, two technical falls and a major decision.
• Thomas Penola is off to a 3-0 start at 197 pounds, posting a 22-7 technical fall Sunday at Cleveland State over defending MAC runner-up Ben Smith.
• Michael Woulfe is wrestling his first collegiate season since 2016 after serving in the United States Navy for the last five years and has picked up right where he left off, earning career falls No. 25, 26 and 27 after posting 17 falls in his final year at Navy.

• The Boilermakers are a perfect 4-0 in overtime matches this season.

OPPONENT NOTES
• Brown returns to dual competition for the first time since the 2019-20 season after the Ivy League opted out of the 2020-21 season.

• Bellarmine elevated its athletics to NCAA Division I in 2020, and enters its first season as a DI wrestling program. Purdue will not face the Knights on Sunday.
• Sunday marks the fourth all-time meeting with Duke and Purdue, with the Boilermakers holding a 2-1 edge in the series.
• Duke won the last meeting in the series, upsetting the No. 23 Boilermakers in 2016 with a 28-18 win in West Lafayette.
